Wow.

5-20 mystuff2

Homewood Suites – my home away from home. If I can’t have Peets French Roast in the morning, their Robust blend does rather nicely.

They’ve given us all lanyards because this is such a huge production with so many staff, designers, actors, and creatives coming and going that we need to be identified. As lanyards go, this is rather a large one, but it sure is pretty!

I saw the show last night. Words seem to be failing me at the moment, but I’ll give it a try. Glorious. Gorgeous. Sumptuous. Beautiful. Moving. The music is exquisite, the actors and dancers are amazingly talented. The designs: set, lighting, costumes (oh my god!) and projections are stunning. It was all I could do to take notes while taking in every element that has been added as this show that I watched most recently in a rehearsal room moved on stage.

Darko’s direction is impeccable, as always. Peggy Hickey’s choreography is simply amazing.

Wow and wow and wow and wow!

5-20 program

I snapped a quick photo as I sat in my seat, waiting for the curtain.

If you live in the area: GO. Just GO.

Today I will spend some time at rehearsal, giving notes to various actors, checking in with them to see if all is well. Then I’ll head home – most likely smack in the middle of rush hour. I’m tired because I was up later than usual last night, yet I woke up at the exact same time (5:45) that I usually wake up. Not good.

5-20 hartford sky

The sky as I walked to the theater last night. Pretty dramatic, as befits a night at the theater.

Happy Friday.

Well, it’s going to Broadway eventually – maybe you can see it there, Deb.

how fun … glad you can do that.

there’s some (but not enough) theater productions where i live. love the opportunity to see live-on-broadway performances simultaneously broadcast at movie theaters. not the same, of course, but at least we sometimes have that option.

that last photo is beautiful. love dark-and-stormy weather.

I love how attending plays and musicals regularly opens up new worlds to me. You’re so fortunate to be attached to so many terrific shows. It’s fun to see your name on the program! Hey, you actually do what you say you do….LOL! I saw Treasure Island recently and the staging was wonderful. The cast, too. I love how many actors return to this theater in different roles. The actor who portrayed Long John Silver was the same who played the title role in Tartuffe. Though I always try to immerse myself in the theatrical moment, I couldn’t help but make comparisons between the two roles. Of course, that just added another interesting dimension to my theater-going experience.

How fun! It sounds wonderful but there’s not much chance, actually the chance is nil, that I’ll get to see it. How exciting to see your name there on the program…but you’re probably used to it by now. :-). Safe trip back home.
    Blessings,

The lanyard certainly is pretty…I love the way Anastasia is reflected in the water..It takes so many people to put on a play doesn’t it..even more if it’s a musical…You should be so proud of yourself Claudia..to be part of something that will bring such joy and pleasure to others is a good thing as Martha says..Have a safe trip home..

I am SO proud of you, Claudia! This is truly exciting, and I wish I could see the play. Maybe if it tours south. My BFF from high school lives in NYC, and I’m going to tell her about this. I think she would enjoy it.

My sister had to have MORE surgery so I haven’t been online. It has been a wild couple of weeks, really a wild few months since this first surfaced, and that’s an understatement. But above everything, she is my hero. Please keep her in your prayers.

It won’t be on Broadway until the 2017 season. In the meantime, it’s in Hartford until June 19th, but it’s very close to selling out.

I will keep your sister in my prayers, Sheila. xo

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
