Have you heard about yarn bombing? Sometimes called urban knitting or guerilla knitting, yarn bombing is a sort of graffiti that is not permanent. I’ve seen yarn bombed trees and all sort of things on the internet.
Well, my local yarn shop got permission to yarn bomb the railing of the library in a neighboring town. Yesterday, while we were sight-seeing and shopping, we came across the installation. It’s fabulous!
This is a long, double railing and it runs the length of the sidewalk (even longer than you see in this photograph.
I have no idea how long it took to put this together. It’s really wonderful. And the bird knocked my socks off!
Our guests go back to NYC today and on to their home in Canada on Saturday. We’ve had a great time together. Scout will most likely go into a funk once they’ve gone. Our girl is pretty social and she loves an adoring audience.
Wednesday was fun food day. We had egg salad sandwiches, chips, vanilla ice cream with strawberries, pizza and popcorn. Mmm mmm good! Everyone needs a fun food day now and then.
Happy Friday.
Claudia, I love the yarn bombing! There is a book about it. I bought it, read it and passed It on. I am afraid that I couldn’t talk myself into doing it. Just think how many warm socks an hats could be made in the same time that it took to cover the railing….
How in the world do they do that? Is it knitted/crocheted in place? Amazing and I love the fun aspect of it. The bird steals the show! xo Diana
Never heard of or saw yarn bombing..The bird is priceless…Took somebody a lot of time to do all that…

Gotta love a good Y.B. What fun on the railing at the library. We need anything to attract attention to a library. I’m so nervous they will too become a thing of the past. Have a relaxing weekend guest free. You know where I’ll be out in the garden with hose in hand.
Oh my, isn’t that just the cheeriest thing to brighten a rainy summer’s day :D
What a wonderful way to brighten things up! I’ve never seen YB, I’ll have to google it and see what comes up.
I’ve never heard of yarn bombing, but this is just fabulous! So unexpected to come upon this type of art installation! I would love to see something like this in person. Thanks for bringing it to your blog for me to see!
I love it, love it, love it. Your photos make me think about yarn bombing “my” schoolhouse. Nobody would ever guess that it was me. ;-)
Oh that ‘yarn bombing’ is amazing! What fun and so much work! Have a great weekend. Hugs, Linda
I’ve heard of flashmobs, but not yarn bombing. Gotta love it (:
I bet you wanted to take the yarn bird home with you!! Let’s make one (:
Yarn bombing? Never heard of it but it certainly is amazing and colourful! That bird does steal the show! Sounds that you had a delightful and very yummy day!
I just noticed a tree in front of the bookstore that was bombed…..I will post a picture of it soon.
I have missed your posts but knew you were bsy visiting. Glad you are having a good visit.
I love the yarn bombing! So much fun and so many bright cheery colors!
I have never heard of this before but I am fascinated by this. I googled yarn bombing and so many neat things came up. It is so whimsically beautiful. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for introducing “Yarn Bombing” – this is a term for me – and now I feel so educated! :) First thing I thought when I saw the bird was – I bet Claudia could learn how to make those – and sell them in her etsy shop! :) It’s adorable! Have a nice weekend!
Oooh… that’s a cute one. I really love the bird. It’s such a clever touch. The only yarn bombing that I’ve seen in person is in Berkeley on 4th Street. It’s wrapped around a sign pole. It was a fun, whimsical surprise to happen upon!
Hugs,
Jill
How very clever…I’ve never heard of this..Thanks for sharing.

Never hear of yarn bombing until now. The bird is the star of the show!
Wow. I like this guerilla yarning! Thanks, honey!!
I’ve heard of it. And I’ve seen other pictures around the web of trees that have been yarn bombed.
But I guess I don’t get it. Just the fun factor…that’s why they do it?
Maybe it’s my equivalent of a bottle tree!
I love them…but some people don’t get them either. LOL…
