A Favorite Thing #23

February 8, 2013 at 8:00 pm by Claudia

afavoritething

Welcome to A Favorite Thing #23. I am in the middle of a major snowstorm as I write this and I’ve also been dealing with my dad’s hospitalization on several long distance phone calls, so forgive me if I don’t offer my own favorite thing today. As we are expected to get over 16 inches of snow tonight, I will be busy shoveling tomorrow, so I may not get around to all of your posts this week. I promise things will get back to normal next week.

Some highlights from last week:

004.CR2

Jane from Blondie’s Journal shared some of her favorite vignettes from around the house.

DSC_1943

Lynn from Poppi Linn shared some lovely candle holders that she made.

p1020966

And Love it Handmade shared a photo of her boxer, Claire. What a face!

Now it’s your turn.

You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.

Enjoy!

    HI Claudia,

We’ve had the worst of it here in Toronto, and we could get up to 15 inches, and I know it’s coming your way, so stay warm and safe! Thanks for hosting and keeping us entertained these past few flurry weeks with this fun-filled party! I posted about missing my sunny skies of Crete; wonder where I got my inspiration…

    Hi Claudia,
Oh…What a huge dump of snow! I can just imagine you tonight all snuggled up against the storm. It reminds me of the Laura Ingalls Wilder book “The Long Winter”. I better quit fretting about not getting very much snow this year….I need to remember “Be careful what you wish for” after reading your post.
    Blessings and warm hugs,
    Carolynn xoxo

Snowstorms are wonderful as long as you don’t have to leave the house, or you have time off to go skiing! Keeping your dad in my prayers Claudia and you as well.

    Big Hugs,

Oh Claudia! I’m so very sorry to hear your daddy is in the hospital! I’ve been busy with doctors appointments I’ve delayed over and over, and also tackling long overdo stuff around the house and somehow missed what was going on with your dad. Please know you and he are in my thoughts. Sending you lots and lots of hugs. xo

    Good morning Claudia

I don’t no yet if I post a favourite today. A lot is going on here too. Mentioning one (the fun part): Snow! :-) Could be a favourite, couldn’t it? But I can’t take a photograph now, it’s still dark. Have a nice weekend and stay warm. Hugs, Regula

I hope your dad recovers quickly. It is so hard when a parent is ill. We are buried here, too. Crazy weather.

Since we never get snow here – well, maybe 2 inches every four years – the storm you have sounds cozy to me! I know, I know – it’s like when the northern visitors come here to Coastal Alabama and swim in the Gulf in February and we all think they are crazy, but they think it’s wonderfully warm!

Hope you are safe, warm and away from danger.

Claudia – I will keep you and your family in my prayers… be careful with all this snow – this was a really heavy snowfall… Took us most of today to clear the drive and sidewalks…. Stay warm and cozy… Francine

Thinking of you and your dad and hope he’s well soon. How did you do with the snow? We shoveled out this morning! Glad to see the sun is shining today.
Thank you for featuring my candle holders this week. Take care and stay warm!

ANOTHER comment end of Saturday…not sure which town you are in but saw on the news that CT got the worst and one had 38 inches / I hope you did not get that much and that your dad is ok

I have dealt with 2 feet and 2 1/2 in the past but 38 inches is just insane and I know it can be dangerous for roofs etc / hope you update us on Sunday as to how you are faring my dear and I hope that YOU did not get the 38

Hi Debra – though I write about CT often and work there occasionally, we actually live in NY State, so we didn’t get the amount of snow that many in CT and New England did. We got about 14 inches. We’re doing fine!

    Claudia,

Sorry to hear about your dad. Haven’t watched the news or weather at all today but on Friday I heard the east coast was going to get walloped! Sixteen inches is significant! We had some rough weather in Michigan on Friday but nothing like what you’re getting. Stay safe and warm and be careful digging out.

Thanks for hosting the party this week in spite of the other challenges you are facing. I’ll check out all the features. The boxer’s face is the cutest! All the links will give me plenty of reading the next couple of days.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
