A Finished Puzzle and More Egg Cups

March 22, 2024 at 8:40 am by Claudia

The low last night was 20 degrees. Yikes! And Wednesday night and Thursday were wind events.

Okay. I’m over it. Let’s get back to spring, okay?

First up, I finished my puzzle:

This is from Cavallini – Vintage Italian Tarot Cards. They are striking and beautifully illustrated. It was a lot of fun to work on this one. The hardest part was the blue background, which I ignored until the end of the process.

I thought I’d share the way I have to stand on a chair to get these puzzle photos.

Egg cup tour continued:

On the left: two morning glory egg cups that I found in Paris. I think they’re newish, but there isn’t any mark on them. How could I ignore morning glories?

On the right: these two cups are definitely new as I found them at Abbey Road Studios in London. I couldn’t resist!

On the left: two wooden egg cups that were a gift from a reader – Treen (small domestic objects made of wood.)

On the right: a large double cup from Hankscraft. The simple lines are reminiscent of Art Deco.

Vintage.

On the left: a very old egg cup from Spode. It’s exquisite. The pattern is Chelsea Bird. More on that later.

On the right: a silver egg cup from a shop in Paris that was a block from our hotel. Don insisted on buying it for me. It’s very small and the pattern on the base is Art Nouveau. I polished it just for you. It’s vintage, but I have no idea of the date.

The inside of the Spode cup has lovely details.

A beetle.

A butterfly.

And, I suppose, the Chelsea Bird.

I’d love to find more Spode egg cups. They’re truly beautiful.

The sun is shining. Here’s hoping it warms up nicely today.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

We had a dusting of snow last night and my sweet daffodils are hanging their heads. I hope they bounce back when the sun and warmer weather return!

PS — We’ve had a few inches of snow overnight. Five inches (or more) expected. I’m hoping they are wrong.

I keep hearing that people all over the midwest are getting snow!

We might get some freezing rain tonight. Don is driving home from a gig, so I’m saying a prayer.

        Stay safe.

I’m glad you showed us the inside of that Spode cup. It is gorgeous. And I love the silver one that Don insisted you purchase….just so perfect. .

We have 4 inches of fresh snow and counting as it’s still snowing. Our next storm looks to be rain only…hope it stays that way. Either way….precipitation is very welcome.

    Enjoy your day! ;)

Yes, the Spode egg cup is simply beautiful. The inside is precious. I have several Spode Blue Italian dinner places since I have collected blue and white dinnerware most of my life. And the morning glory ones are also among my favorites of the pretty summery looking egg cups you have.

We’re in the process of getting 5 – 8 inches of snow and I am as bummed about it as can be. At least 3 inches on the ground right now and coming down thick. Every man in the neighborhood had their snow blower out around 7 a.m. No idea why since it is supposed to continue most of the day.

    Stay warm,
    Kay

Darn that snow! Everyone I know in the Midwest is getting it! We’re going to get lots of rain and maybe some freezing rain.

      Stay safe.

Aww, morning glories. I can’t see one or even hear the word, Glory, without being reminded of my dear sweet girl. How we miss her.

hope you get warmer weather soon.

pretty art on that puzzle. and there’s that beautiful, french/slate blue color again! :)

love all the egg cups and especially that many came from when you and don were in england and france. :) the spode egg cup is my favorite from today because of the some-don’t-go-with-eggs things painted on the inside, like the beetle … but glad you have them all.

cold here so the overnight rain has frozen. hopefully it warms up a bit here, too, because i don’t like ice or feel like shoveling. it’s pretty, though, and i am glad for some precipitation.

busy day yesterday, but should be a quiet, easy day here today and i am glad about that, too.

hope you, don and everyone else have a good, easy day, too. stay safe.

      I love that egg cup.

Yes, we’re to have some freezing rain tonight and Don will be driving back from a gig, so I’m a wee bit nervous.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Thank you for the tour around your egg cup collection. I think my favourite is Humpty Dumpty.

Great jigsaw too. Last Saturday I went to a book and jigsaw sale at the community centre in the next village. I bought six jigsaws including The World of Charles Dickens from that series plus four books including a hardback that I currently have on loan from the library and it has a waiting list on it! Total cost under £10 or around $9!

    Happy Friday

There’s still more to come, Dee Dee.

I wish we had a jigsaw sale around here! As it is I have 18 to donate.

Good buys at that sale. Congratulations!

      Stay safe.

More beautiful egg cups, love them. I had a friend who loved tarot cards and always wanted to read them for us. Hers were lovely but not as beautiful as the ones depicted in your puzzle. We’re supposed to get some snow today. One forecast says it will be finished by 1:00 and one said it won’t start till 4:00. We have a light dusting and snow is in the air. I’ve just made some egg salad for sandwiches. I love egg salad sandwiches. Comfort food from my childhood. Enjoy your weekend, you two. Hugs, Elaine

Well, gosh, you’ve got it ALL on the egg cups; SPODE (beautiful!), all the different glazes, woods and, ah, here’s the silver cup from Don! And I’m remembering how much I loved the London “Beatles’ cups.

My goodness, you are SO cold! You’ve got wind; we’ve got MORE rain coming in for the overnight and tomorrow in my area of Southern Calif. We are now BUGGY outside because nothing ever dries out and it’s spring. My roses were doing okay but now they’re in some kind of stall/standstill mode.

Claudia, I was never big on jigsaw puzzles, but you’ve gotten me to looking at Galisons and I’m hooked! There’s a large variety. Are you continuing to be one and done; donating your puzzles after completion?

One and done. I see no reason to do one a second time. The excitement wouldn’t be there. I currently have 18 to donate to some organization!

      Stay safe, Vicki.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
