Yesterday was quiet and lovely – we even got our first snowfall, which was a wet snow that eventually turned to rain. But it was kind of neat to see it falling. It’s all gone today.
Don made a stir-fry for dinner (at my request) and he included steamed carrots and fried potatoes. That little sneak concocted a meal of three of my favorite things to eat. I love his fried potatoes and I love, love, love carrots and these were organic carrots so they were extra delicious. The “cake” was a candle stuck in one of my favorite sugar-free chocolates (chocolate marshmallow.) I got my puzzle, as well as a book light.
And then we watched Barbie! I didn’t know what to expect but I really liked it. I’d like to watch it again today just to make sure I caught every reference. It’s visually stunning and the message is a powerful one. Greta Gerwig had a vision for this film and boy, did she achieve it! It’s simply amazing.
Today, it’s still a bit wet outside and rather dreary.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes!
Question: Will your Thanksgiving weekend be full? Should I not post on Friday? I’m thinking that might be a good idea and then, of course, I would post on Saturday. Let me know.
After being shoeless for two weeks, Pru couldn’t quite believe these boots were hers. You can see the doubt written all over her face. Eventually, she put them on and is enjoying being well shod.
Have to do a bit of grocery shopping this morning. Thanksgiving means it’s time to make Grandma’s biscuits. I can taste them already!
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

so glad you had a lovely birthday!
and that pru has boots, especially since you’ve had some snow.
to your question … usual here except for tomorrow’s fancier meal and probably extra football all weekend. am okay with that because i’m grateful to be with my family as able … and that the rest of us (11 of 13) are surprisingly-but-thankfully so far testing negative for covid. whether your holiday weekend is busy or not, i hope you post when *you* want. :)
happy, healthy, safe thanksgiving to you, don, everyone else here and all your loves. among many other ‘things’, i am thankful for you all. may God keep blessing us all!
kathy
ps … now (just after 8:00 am) i am hungry for stir-fried vegetables. :)

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Kathy!

You celebrated your birthday exactly the way you wanted. Pru’s boots will keep her nice and warm this winter. I just ordered some Christmas pj’s for Jessie and Walter. Growing up we all got new jammies and wore them to bed Christmas eve. I’ve been doing some Christams shopping for them, too. They are each getting a bicycle and a new outfit. This such fun, but how do you stop lol?Happy Thanksgiving to you and Don and Meredith and her family. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
It’s so cute the way you buy them holiday presents, Elaine!

I was just glancing at your i/g in how I can access it from your blog page (otherwise, I never get into i/g; I have no accounts or anything). The painting in the Paris garden with the green chairs; your collection of Roseville paintings. You’re good, Claudia; really good. You need to keep on painting. Not everybody has that kind of talent, to just pick up a brush and start in like you did. You have some kind of natural skill, like your photographer’s eye, too. You’re artsy in so many ways!
Claudia says
Thank you so much for those kind words, Vicki.

Echoing other’s thoughts….I’m happy you got the birthday celebration that you wanted. And, a candle in a chocolate sounds delightful.
Posting on Friday should be up to you. I’m always happy to hear from you.
I’m a bit lost these days. For the first time in 40 years, I’m not preparing a Thanksgiving feast. We’ve been invited to my son and daughter-in-law’s for the day! And, while I’m excited…it’s just plain weird for me. But, I am so thankful to spend the day with most of my family.
Here’s wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, full of good food, family, and/or friends. ;)
Claudia says
I would say “Enjoy being spoiled by your family, Donnamae!”
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Stay safe.

I enjoyed the Barbie movie too. It was the only movie I saw in a movie theater in 2023.
Enjoy the biscuits! We’ve been shopping and prepping since this past weekend for tomorrow’s dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving, Wendy.

Happy Thanksgiving Claudia and Don.
I always enjoy reading your posts, but if you want to take Friday off that’s fine too.
I am 5 weeks post op from open heart surgery to replace two valves. So I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the Mockingbird Hill community!
Claudia says
So glad you’re healing and that all is well, Denise. 5 weeks post op must be a real accomplishment!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and stay safe.

What a good birthday! I haven’t seen BARBIE yet but I want to. Ashleigh is leaving tonight to head back to Vancouver. I am so glad she could be with me this week. Tomorrow I will join Sara and family for Thanksgiving. I think I’m doing pretty well but I do know there will be those unexpected moments that will make me cry. Probably as I go through my Mom’s things and clean out her side of the duplex. It’s a process my girls tell me and no rush. Big Hugs to you and a Saturday post would be lovely.
Claudia says
You’ll have those moments for sure. I still have them about my parents and it’s been many years now. Take your time. When you’re ready and only then. And then, maybe just a little at a time.
Happy Thanksgiving, Linda.
Stay safe.

I’m so glad you had a terrific birthday. Well deserved!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Claudia. Ours will be pretty packed (more than I wish) with RIck’s mom here for those days; his stepsister coming up on Friday and the kids on Saturday. They are threatening that we go to Grand Rapids to take his mom to Rick’s brother’s Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. I might try to bag it — I want to get on with the house decorating, but I suspect what I’ll really want is to sleep. This current round of MRSA and pseudomonas infection is wiping me out — and only on the first day of antibiotics. So, we’ll see. In any event, whether you do or don’t post, Happy Day (and if you do, I’ll catch up!)
Claudia says
You need to take care of yourself, Jeanie!
Have a happy Thanksgiving, my friend.
Stay safe.
Kay in SE WI says
What a lovely birthday. Your birthday dinner sounds so yummy. I spent today “making ahead” as much of Thanksgiving as I can (sweet potato soufflé, “make ahead mashed potatoes,” dressing, spinach artichoke dip, and #1 son’s favorite cookie cake). Dean is making #2’s fave cheesecake now. They have November birthdays and Thanksgiving Day is when they get their birthday desserts. Now I can relax and play with Charlie dog when he gets here tomorrow.
Only a turkey breast to roast and gravy to make tomorrow.
Friday will be about the kids helping dad string outdoor lights and me bringing up a few Christmas things after packing up any fall stuff. I would probably check for your post when I need to sit and relax with my laptop. But you do it whenever it works for you.
Wishing you and Don Happy Thanksgiving.
Take care,
Kay
