A Rainy Friday Morning

August 30, 2024 at 8:33 am by Claudia

I’m sort of liking using a telephoto lens and not necessarily from a great distance. I love the softening in this photo. It’s so lovely and calming – at least, to me.

Sometimes I rely too much on my iPhone. It’s convenient. It does the job. But…the big girl cameras have been ignored lately and they need some attention.

It’s Friday. We woke up to rain. Sitting here while it’s still dark, hearing the rain fall, sipping some coffee? Oh my goodness, the perfect way to start the morning. The rain has stopped but I think we’ll have a bit more this morning. I was going to mow a bit today, but that can be put off until the weekend.

I finished another book yesterday, returned it to the library, and picked up another one. I started another John Sandford. It’s been a bit slow-going because my attention was scattered, but I want to give it a nice chunk of time later today.

In case anyone missed this bit of information from Monday’s post, I am now moderating comments. That does two things – it eliminates any stress I might have discovering an inappropriate comment after it’s been posted, and it eliminates any stress you might feel having read it. It’s a pivotal time in this country and I will occasionally address the election. Just as in 2016 and 2020, “bad actors” will appear. They are not welcome here. A lot of bloggers moderate comments, I’ve just held off on that until now. So, if you think something has gone wrong because you don’t see your comment, don’t worry. I will approve it shortly. I’m on it!

I loved all the comments on what books you are reading. I hope you got some good ideas from other commenters.

Okay.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

I love the sound of rain, too. Definitely has a calming quality, unless it’s a deluge. It’s nice to have options with your photography…. I always enjoy your photos. I just finished a book and I’m waiting for my library books on order… several are in transit now.

Oh, that ‘in transit!’ Sometimes I see that and it takes days to arrive!

      Stay safe, Barrie.

glad you had a nice start to the day … coffee with don, some rain … and that other good things, like more time with don, flowers and books, are ahead.

we had a great lightning, thunder and rainstorm for a couple hours late last night. loved it! tried to soak it all in (pun intended) because it’s supposed to be dry here for at least the next week. it will be cooler, though, and i’m happy about that part.

if i had a blog, i’d moderate comments, too. though i know the good outnumbers the bad, the current state of the world makes it necessary.

i have added a couple more titles to my “tbr” list so thanks, claudia, for asking what we’re reading and thanks to everyone else for answering.

best i get going to other things. hope you all stay safe and have a great day.

I can get very worked up and things stay with me longer than they should. I think moderating comments is a good and reasonable thing to do during these “heated” times.
I, too, have to mow my lawn sometime this weekend.
    Have a lovely weekend,
    Kaye

Finished another book and will get one from the Library to start tomorrow. I read on a Kindle now that my eyes aren’t what they use to be. I’m trying to ignore all the politics while still supporting Kamala. Yes to moderating comments. Enjoying cooler weather here.

Oh dear, the girls all look so worried today! I love their wee staging area. Which reminds me — no word on Beacon Hill for a long while. Contemplating options?

Did you watch the interview. I thought Kamala did fine, did what she had to do. But the commercials and the “campaign” footage to fill in was so annoying, we almost tuned out. (If Rick had the TV controls, we would have, knowing we’d hear all about it later.) I wish it had been on PBS.

Didn’t watch because I knew Dana Bash would echo Republican talking points, which, apparently, she did. The same Dana Bash who let Trump lie endlessly during the debate and never called him on it.

I am just not motivated right now to work on the Beacon Hill. I want to be. I’m trying to be. Hopefully, I’ll find some motivation come winter. Renovating a dollhouse can be really expensive, so I have to find a way to do it inexpensively.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
