This is my favorite time of year to photograph the dolls. The porch, the potted flowers, the natural light! It just makes the perfect background. This is little Miyoshi. Her face up just might be the most beautiful of all the girls.
Don mowed most of the front lawn yesterday. I offered to do the areas around the garden beds because I know he worries about that. So I ran outside to mow and ended up pulling some weeds in a couple of the beds, as well. I also pruned some of the rose bush (it’s not looking good at the moment and I’m wondering if it’s dying.) Long story short: I was sore and allergy ridden from the day before and I’m even more sore and allergy ridden today. But we mowed most everything on Thursday and Friday. The only part of the lawn we didn’t get to is the lilac side. Weed whacking begins next week.
It looks pretty and very green out there. Today, it’s raining.
I’m grateful for the rain because we need it, but also because it gives me permission to stay inside and rest. I’m going to clean up my work area in the studio so I can find things. It’s too cluttered at the moment.
We haven’t seen Phileas in several days. Don thinks he’s moved on. We had tree trimmers from the county doing work on our stretch of the road on Thursday and they were around for a long time and VERY LOUD. Maybe Phileas decided to vacate the premises? I hope he comes back. Don had a sad note in his voice when he said “I think he left.” I’m sad, too.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

Miyoshi looks lovely, and so at home. Great pic.
We need rain, too. It’s promised for next Tuesday. In the meantime, I have to water our new evergreens (4), and our transplants. But at least the hard work is done for now. Next up is a visit to the nursery for my annuals for the containers.
Glad you get a day to rest up. This time of year it’s hard to get one it seems. Enjoy your day! ;)
Thanks so much, Donnamae!
Stay safe.
i’ve felt sadness, worry too, when we haven’t seen earl or the deer in a while (during their usual times) so i hope you and don get to see phileas as much as you want this summer.
and i’m glad you feel permission to rest and get over the soreness.
i am knitting dishcloths for a new housing project opening this fall to help at-risk 18- to 24-year-olds. currently have 24 of 40+ done. it’s now a pretty easy pattern for me, but my sister’s had to help me several times figure out which row is next and un-do a couple rows (the pattern has four alternating rows in each of thirteen repeating sets). i need to pay better attention or take notes … haha. this housing project is thanks to the dream and hard work of a man who used to be in a gang in chicago; he’s had an alternative school here for several years and survived injuries in which two of his students were shot and killed a couple years ago. these dishcloths and bottles of “joy” detergent for each apartment are a way i can support him and his great goal. will knit some today. glad to do it.
hope you, don and everyone else have a nice weekend. stay safe.

Such a wonderful project for yout, Kathy. And for a worthy cause.

Phileas may return, as critters often have a range but remember where they are comfortable and safe. He may have just temporarily vacated to get away from the noise.
Hope the forced rest alleviates most of your allergy symptoms.
Just saw something leap and jump into the culvert.
Phileas is still here.
Stay safe, Wendy.
I feel for Phileas. They’re redoing the service drive my small condo complex borders. I can’t imagine the noise my small cat has to endure during the day. One of those we’re going to completely tear up the street make it one way only (East) until sometime in Oct. No problem in going to work as I drive East but have to go out of my way almost 2 miles to get home. Figured it will add an extra 200 miles drive to the commute. If I have to drive 200 miles I’d at least like to see a Great Lake! I grew up with 3 acres in grass, garden apple trees, Scotch Pines. And remember lots of weekly picking up the pine cones in order so Dad could mow safely! And lots of watching of weather in order to plan when you could mow!
Your dolls are so cute. Thanks for letting me living vicariously through your collection!
Not to mention the amount of gas you have to use in these overpriced times!
Thanks so much, Lucinda.
Stay safe.
Miyshoi is adorable. I do enjoy the photos you take. I miss my outdoor creatures if they move on also. So many birds lately it’s been glorious.
Oh, hasn’t it been? I love hearing them again!
Stay safe, Linda.
Have a wonderful, restful Sunday. After all you’ve been doing, you deserve it!
Thank you Jeanie! You, too!
Stay safe.
