We had a little bit of snow overnight. This is the kind of snowfall that I love, just enough to brush the ground, but not enough to have to shovel. And that’s the kind of snow we’ve been getting lately. I hope that trend continues.
As I write this, I can hear the honking of Canada geese as they fly overhead. (One of my favorite sounds.)
We slept in today and oh, how delicious that is! It rarely happens nowadays, but it did this morning. The image of sleeping in while the snow was falling is irresistable. Now, I’m sipping on coffee while writing this post. The tree lights are on. Yes, we haven’t taken it down. It is getting a bit dry, but I’d say it has two or three days left and we’re going to hang on to it for dear life. I have gradually stowed away all the other Christmas bits that were on various surfaces. Yesterday, I took down the little white Christmas tree that was in the den. It was time. But the big tree that gets even more fragrant as it begins to dry? I can’t even bear to think of its absence from our living room.
The latest books from the library:
A Clue to the Exit by Edward St. Aubyn
The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The Cold Cold Ground by Adrian McKinty
And as I look across the room, I see a stack of books by the dollhouse – all of them waiting to be read. And more, right here next to my chair. And even more upstairs in the bedroom. I’d better get on it.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.
It’s a good time of year to read. Stay warm and cozy and enjoy your weekend, Claudia.
Thank you, Ellen, You, too.

So many books, so little time. We must choose wisely what we spend our reading time on. We, too, still have our real Christmas tree up. It is still in good shape. No sounds of needles dropping. We got snow overnight, too. It looks very pretty. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Elaine
Same to you, Elaine!

Mine is still up too. A quiet morning with fresh snow here, too — maybe a couple of inches, nothing fierce (though they are threatening more!) Rick’s hosting a house concert tomorrow so today will be helping prep by doing some baking for the reception and digging out some stuff like the punch bowl. I might take down the big tree this weekend but the woodland tree (which is artificial) will stay up until I decide it’s time to go (or need the real estate for something else.) A good day to stay in till absolutely necessary!
Don used to do House Concerts – perform, I mean. They’re a great idea.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Yesterday we woke you up to a little bit of snow, too. Not enough to shovel…but it was perfect for sweeping. And sweep away I did.
Regarding yesterday’s post….I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by all the misery happening. Not only with the people in California, but with friends and relatives close to me that are fighting health battles. So, my life lately has seemed like one big prayer…and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
I’m glad your tree is hanging in there. We must find the light and joy wherever we can. Sounds like you have quite the stack of books in waiting. Happy reading. Enjoy your day! ;)
It’s a very heavy time, Donnamae. I understand.

Maybe, you could drape the twinkling lights around your home once the tree has gone. I have some that I keep in my kitchen throughout the Winter. It’s been snow and below freezing temperatures all week. I think this might have to be the year that I have to take the plunge and replace the double glazing. It had a 25 year guarantee, now in its 33rd year! My house feels so cold but then I feel bad complaining when there’s so many other places in the world who are really suffering. My heart goes out to the people of California and those in the Ukraine.
You can never have too many books to be read. Yesterday, at work, I noticed a new Robert Rinder novel is in the pipeline for early summer.I
Happy Saturday
Well, we keep our porch lights up through March, so we’ll get some twinkles from them.
Love Robert Rinder. I think the second one has been out, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.
Stay safe, Dee Dee.
Several homes in the neighborhood here still have the Christmas lights up…and I’m enjoying them! Nice that you’ll be able to keep your tree and lights up for a couple more days. I have a lot of reading to do since I have two waiting for me at the library. Enjoy your reading.
I will. You, too, Barrie.
Stay safe.
A cozy morning! Enjoy.
Can you believe we woke up to pouring rain in Alberta, Canada? It should be snowing. On this day last year, it was – 28 C (- 38 C with the wind) but today, it’s already + 4 C. I wish there was a way to send all this rain to L.A. Hoping the moisture we’re getting will ensure we won’t have any fires here in the Summer. The world feels turned upside down today!
Peace and love to all.
X Chy
It does seem that way, Chy.

We got our first snow in years Friday. It’s so pretty and wonderful. I’m jealous of all of you that still have your tree up. I’ll have to rethink taking it down next year. Keep warm.
So happy you have some snow to enjoy!
Stay safe, Leslie.
Our tree has been down a while. I looked outside to see Dean taking the lights off the little tree in front and the bushes by the porch. I still leave fairy lights on the fireplace mantle and some of the open shelves in the kitchen through the winter. Guess that’ll have to do now.
We had a dusting of snow and the cold has been unrelenting. Now comes the time of year I dread the most. It’s such a long slog until spring. I have a rather large TBR book pile too. It’s very quiet now as, for the first time in over 30 years we are pet-less something I’m very aware of since Charlie went home. My sister-in-law is coming up to bake bread with me soon. I’m hoping to fill these quiet hours with a new kitchen skill and the smell of fresh bread. The kids tell me they know it’s only a matter of time before I’ll be pestering their dad to let me to go the shelter. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re right.
Take care,
Kay
It must be rather quiet without your beloved pet, Kay. You’ll know when it’s time to adopt a new family member.
Yes, this stretch of winter is always hard for me, too. I wish Christmas was in the middle of winter not at the beginning. Then it wouldn’t seem like such a long expanse of time until spring.
Stay safe.
Your description of your book pile reminded me of a quote I saw recently.
“If you need me I’ll be reading. Please don’t need me.” ☺️
Exactly!
Thanks, Deb.
