Around the Cottage

February 23, 2010 at 12:55 pm by Claudia

It’s snowing. Again. We’re hanging out inside the cottage until we go outside to shovel. Again. A snapshot of the morning:

I’m sorting buttons and putting them in these little shaker jars from Michael’s. They sit on the windowsill in the studio.

Someone’s been writing on the chalkboard.

Waiting for something – anything – to happen.

The label on the back of the little spice shelf I wrote about the other day. Unbelievably, I didn’t even notice it until yesterday. Where was my mind? I could use it to hold ‘tooth powder, talcum, face cream’ but I won’t.

Finally, in the ‘slice of real life’ category: the view from the top of the stairs. My slippers, a chair in front of the stairs to keep Mr. Riley safely downstairs, mail to be filed upstairs waiting in the Stair Baluster Holding Area, items on the desk that I must take upstairs, and Riley peeking around the corner, watching my every move.

I hope you are having better weather than we are! Have a good Tuesday.

We are having nice weather here in so. cal. Your home is so warm and comfortable looking. Love the shot from upstairs to down. Are you getting cabin fever?

No one makes a boring ole’ day around the house look cozier than you. This post was enchanting. I loved — and really appreciate — the “real life” look at your living space. (Pssst, it still looks pretty darn good to me!)

Love that rug that Scout is lying on, too.

    Hi Claudia,

Yes, today we’re finally having some sunshine. Yesterday was storm after storm…..I thought we were having tornado weather..whew. Today is cooler in the 60’s and sunny, but I feel more rain a commin’

I can’t believe a small chair like that keeps the dog out, my dogs would laugh at you and they’d have it out of the way in no time…;o)

    Hugs,
    Meri

I can’t believe that chair keeps Riley from getting to the stairs, honey. Good dog, good dog. But the writing on the chalk board? I don’t think Riley wrote that, sugar. ;-)

goodness, I think I might love the label just as much as the shelf- how awesome! We had a light dusting of snow here today too- I hate it because I am so ready to walk outside without worrying about ice and snow and falling. I love your pics- especially Riley peeking to see what you are doing. Stay warm Claudia ♥

LOL, I have the same stair filing system that you do… as in- put it on the stairs so I don’t forget to take it up to the office. But I have to admit mine sometimes stays on the stairs for a week! Another step holds the library books I need to remember to take back. Everyone should have a staircase to help them stay organized. :-)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
