As Yet Unpainted

November 16, 2019 at 9:54 am by Claudia

Do you know that I have painted 3 out of 4 walls in the kitchen? And that I’ve haven’t touched a paintbrush or roller in over a year? The side of the panty – where the plates are hanging – will be painted as part of that final update.

I guess I’ve left it because it involves moving the china cabinet and the bench and then finding somewhere to put them while painting everything.

2020 goal: Finish painting the kitchen, Claudia.

It’s very cold here today and windy. Too cold to clean up the porch and the porch plants. I was able to keep several of them alive until about 3 or 4 days ago. Then I saw the writing on the wall. So the dirt and dead plants need to be dumped on the leaf pile near the shed. The pots need to be stacked in the shed. Cushions need to be brought inside and stored somewhere. I don’t see any snow on the horizon except for flurries here and there, so I have some time yet.

Don is feeling better, though not tip-top yet. We watched Rachel Maddow last night because yesterday was so packed full of revelations and testimony and convictions (bye-bye Roger Stone!) I rarely watch MSNBC nowadays (must maintain peace of mind.) But sometimes, you just need Rachel.

Other than taking our vintage advertising print that we got in Paris last year to the framers for an estimate this morning, we’re hanging around the house today. Some bathroom cleaning is in order, as well as some laundry.

Happy Saturday.

We even have it a bit cooler down here, today—and that’s a good thing! (I like where you’ve hung your plates, below “my” clock!)
The past two or three days I’ve been mostly lost in making a “Christmas tree” out of old earrings of my mom’s. Today will be busy baking bread, making chili (it’s finally cool enough!), and baking fruitcakes. I think I’m feeling the holidays approaching!

i’d be over in a second to help you paint anything if iowa was closer to new york (i love painting). best wishes on that project (not that you need any help).

hope don feels 100% better soon!

your saturday sounds nice once the chores are done … and soon you’ll get that french print back to enjoy nicely and safely framed! and those marionette plates are perfect! bet you smile each time you see things like that. :) :) that’s how i decorate, too. anyway … hope you and don have a lovely, easy weekend.

“But sometimes, you just need Rachel.” amen.

As I was reading, I was wondering why you were taking your print to the farmers…. sometimes I think I read too fast!! To the framers makes so much more sense.

Glad Don is feeling better. If you could just get him to stay in and rest until Monday, I bet he would kick it completely out of his system. So glad you didn’t get it, too.

The sun is shining, and happily, most of the last 3 inches of snow is just about gone. yay!

I do love where you put those plates…and you say you don’t have any room. Lol!

We seem to have chased the cold weather away, at least temporarily. Our snow is melting…now you can see the leaf piles that may or may not get picked up.

Sounds like another resting day is just what Don needs. Enjoy your day! ;)

We managed to squeeze those plates in – interestingly both and Don and I had picked the same place without telling each other beforehand. Thanks, Donna!

About Roger Stone, go to youtube and google Bill Maher’s overtime. Watch Donna Brazile and her reaction to Stone’s future living quarters. It was a laugh aloud moment!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
