Pink Saturday

September 4, 2009 at 11:18 pm by Claudia

Happy Pink Saturday! Our hostess is Beverly and if you stop by her blog, you will see a list of all those participating.

I received a package today that made my heart sing. It was from dear Elyse. Let’s look inside my newly opened package, shall we?

I spy something beautifully crocheted.

Gorgeous! Someone put a great deal of time and effort into this beauty – not to mention sheer skill. I love this. Oh, here’s a card –

Elyse recently wrote about something she was making for a friend who had a dollhouse. She posted a photo and I, along with many others, raved about it. What does her card say?

Oh boy! It was for me!

Swoon! I am in love with this sweet pink hutch. Could anything be more adorable? I can’t stop looking at it! Be still my heart! Elyse, you are so sweet and thoughtful to think of me and my dollhouse. Do you see what Elyse placed on the shelf?

A sweetly wrapped bouquet of flowers…sigh.
Thank you, sweet Elyse! You are a wonderful friend.

I have been blessed with such wonderful, generous blogging friends. When I first wrote about the dollhouse, fellow bloggers offered advice and support. They generously sent me furniture, accessories, and information to start me off in the miniature world. You are all so dear to me. I am itching to start sprucing up the outside of the dollhouse so that I can fix up the inside and fill it with all my beautiful gifts. Hmmm. What should I name my dollhouse? Any suggestions?

Happy Pink Saturday!

Favorites

September 3, 2009 at 7:11 pm by Claudia

This old church hymn board is one of my favorite things. We bought it several years ago and it hangs right next to our piano. I love the simple lines of this piece. We used to put favorite photos where the hymn numbers were originally inserted, but we have come to like it without any extra adornment. It truly is one of my favorite things.

Speaking of favorite things, my painting from Fifi has been framed and is now hanging on the wall in our upstairs bathroom. The green wall color seemed to be the perfect background for it, don’t you think? Thank you, Fifi. We love it.

Still working on taxes…cleaned the oven, cleaned the refrigerator. Unfortunately the heating coil in the oven is still smoking…I think some oil from the pesto got on it and try as I might, it doesn’t seem to be coming off. Any suggestions? Perhaps a new heating coil is in our future.

Tired Garden

September 2, 2009 at 9:49 am by Claudia

About the time mid-August rolls around, my garden is tired. And I’m tired…of weeding, of pinching back, of pruning…all of it. Fallen maple leaves make their new home amongst the plants ~ their presence heralds the arrival of Autumn.

The hydrangea changes from white to soft green.

I know this is part of the cycle. Nevertheless, it always makes me a little melancholy.

Some plants, like my sedum, don a new color.

I used to say that Autumn was my favorite season and it still might be. But since we have lived in the Cottage, I have been blessed with a garden and I love it so. I hate to see it fade away for another 9 months or so. By the way, we moved into MHC 4 years ago on August 30th. What a wonderful day that was!

I managed, in true Claudia-the-procrastinator fashion, to avoid doing the two things I needed to do yesterday. My husband shot some photos of me for my work-related web site and we were so pleased with the results that we merrily drove off for lunch and a visit to the bookstore. Next thing I knew, it was time for dinner. So I must tackle both tasks today, along with cleaning the oven. Last night husband was making a delicious pizza when the kitchen filled with smoke, setting off the alarm and prompting a call from our alarm company. Many windows were opened, fans turned on, and the alarm company was reassured that all was well. But something was smoking in that oven. Some cleaning must be done.

I just realized that this is my 301st post! How did that happen? Have a wonderful day!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
