Shopping with Maryjane

June 1, 2010 at 12:03 am by Claudia

Maryjane and I spent much of our time together talking and eating – but we did manage to go in one shop, Madison Manor. It is a beautiful shop, full of vintage and new. Here are some photos:

Do I really need to say once again how much I want a vintage dress form?

I love this little doll. Does anyone know what this type of doll is called? Note to Maryjane’s husband: Maryjane wants the round version of the pink jeweled clock. Her birthday is soon. Hint, hint.

This is the tallest bottle rack I’ve seen – so tall I chopped off the top of it in the photo.

See those little aqua colored clocks? I just now noticed them – how did I miss them in the shop?

I love cherubs.

I found a little something while I was shopping. Remember the china I bought on eBay? Here is a photo of the pattern:

I couldn’t resist this vintage hand-painted creamer and sugar – made in Bavaria. Since part of the creamer had been mended, I got them for a song.

I thought they would go nicely with the china – in the same color range, yet different enough in design to be interesting.

Happy 64th Anniversary to my Mom and Dad! I love you both very much.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Pink Saturday

May 29, 2010 at 12:03 am by Claudia

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Pink Saturday!

These peonies are for you, Beverly. Thank you for all the time and care you put into this celebration every week. You are a gem.

I am posting this while I am working far away from my home. I’m currently in San Diego and my temporary digs leave much to be desired decor-wise. However, I do have some pink.

This is the view as I sit on the couch and blog. My pink pajamas, a vintage pink tea towel, my pink rose mug and one of my California finds – a pink glove box.

I found this at an antique store and debated whether to buy it. I fell in love with it right away (I’ve started a collection of glove boxes) but the price was a bit high. I went away and when I returned a week later, it was still there – calling to me. I gave in.

Isn’t this fabric beautiful? So old fashioned and flowery. I’m used to seeing solid color glove boxes. This is the first time I’ve seen one in a flower print.

I’m storing all my embroidery supplies inside. I really, really love this piece.

Please celebrate with us and stop by Beverly’s blog to see a list of everyone participating in Pink Saturday’s 2nd Anniversary.

A Wonderful Gift

May 28, 2010 at 12:05 am by Claudia

About a week ago, I received an email from my friend, Becky. Many of you know Becky, who writes the wonderful blog, Sweet Cottage Dreams. If you don’t know her, please visit. She has wonderful style, a compassionate heart, and two of the cutest Scotties ever. Becky said she wanted to send me something that was perfect for me. Of course! (I love presents.)

Today, Becky’s package arrived. I saw this envelope upon opening the box:

Scottie stationery

And this is what I unwrapped:

Oh my goodness, I am in love. This is a vintage fuzzy Koala and baby that is a bank! Look, I’ll show you.

This is the sweetest little bank. It is on the coffee table right now. I adore it.

Thank you, Becky, for this sweet, unexpected gift. I’ve been smiling all day.

In other news, Mom is home from the hospital. I’m afraid we don’t know much more about what caused her problems. She is tired, but happy to be home.

When I was at the beach on Wednesday, I gazed upon the Pacific Ocean and thought how clear, clean and blue it was….and relatively safe from the oil spill. Our friends in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast do not have that luxury. How awful it must be for them, their livelihoods and for all the sea life in danger. It will have ramifications for all of us.

Today, I am having lunch with another blogger, Maryjane of The Beehive Cottage. We’ve never met before. We are going to meet in Temecula and shop and eat. I will take photos, of course!

Have a wonderful day.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
