Fall color and fallen leaves. Just to give you an idea where this is: the bush in the foreground is the lilac.
It’s been rather cold the last two mornings. We’ve had to don layers of clothing to stay warm. We refuse to turn up the heat this early in October. No way! It will warm up on Sunday and Monday. Then back to daytime highs in the 60s and low temps at night. As I said to Don yesterday, we said we wanted cooler temperatures, but not quite this cool!
This morning, after I post this, I will finish my 897 page book. It’s excellent, by the way, but it was due on Tuesday and I feel guilty that I still haven’t returned it. After all, someone else is waiting for it. I’ve already read a big chunk this morning. I’ll post this, make the second cup of coffee and get back to it. Don has a gig this evening and he’ll be leaving in the late afternoon, so I want to return it while I still have access to the car. That’s my goal for the day.

Heavens, I love fall wildflowers! These beautiful New England Asters are growing on either side of the driveway. That color combination is spectacular. I’m going to take some more pictures later today of the various wildflowers popping up all over the property. The golden sunlight of autumn, the color of the leaves, and the wildflowers make for a pretty heady combination.
Okay, my friends. It’s back to my book.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

sounds like a very good day ahead for you and don! glad about that for you both.
love wildflowers and your photo is beautiful.
right now i’m about fifteen minutes into what could be a three-hour wait to get work done on my car … clean/adjust rear brakes, put in new shock absorbers and filters, etc. my sister offered to pick me up, and the shop has a shuttle, but it’s almost thirty minutes to get here so am going to try to be patient and hope my presence here discourages any potential dilly-dallying.
happy, safe friday to everyone.
kathy
I’ve waited that long – it’s a pain, for sure, but sometimes it has to be done.
Stay safe, Kathy.
agree. used the time to read a book. :)
happy weekend.

xo
Love your asters that grow there. We’re at the same stage of autumn as donnanae.
Im up late because I’m excited about the day. I’ll take a bus to edmonton to spend some alone time. This time it’s at a posh hotel (and casino), not an old lodge. I’m taking my doll Raine along. I’ll see my sister and her husband for ?dinner out.
The super moon is on Tuesday night, my birthday. Don’t miss it. Last year the war sgainst the Ukrainians began. I hope this moon brings good.
I’d really like to read a Louise Penny novel.
Ive lost about 26 lbs since July ? I eat. This is pretty troubling, but now I have a doctor. My daddio needs me, and I him.
When I’m home I’m heading down our glorious river in my kayak saying prayers. For others first, of course.
Im sorry for the long entry, Claudia.
So nice that you’ll have some healthy alone time, Irene!
Stay safe.
I am surprised at your leaf drop already. We are way behind, except for the Honey Locust trees, which always drop first. Only a few trees have changed here…but the weather here has been very summer like. Starting Monday, the cooler weather will be here for at least a week. I can’t wait. There is some yard work still to be done…and it will be a much needed distraction for me, you know?
Happy reading…and enjoy your day! ;)
We are always ahead of you on leaf drop. We’re actually north of you in terms of latitude, so it makes sense.
Distractions are most welcome at the moment.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Sounds like you’re enjoying the latest JKR, as I did. Hated for it to end so much that I’m going back and reading from the first ones. I never read them because I first learned of the television series and fell in love with that. I know you don’t like to watch when you’ve read the book, but I so loved the actors who play the characters so perfectly, I’m hooked on both versions. Too bad it takes her sooo long to crank out another one, hahaha!
I read the books from the start, so I have strong images of the characters in my brain. So I’m staying with those.
Just finished it around noon. It was so, so good! But talk about a cliffhanger! Now, we have to wait.
Stay safe, Shanna!
You will be getting our 80s of this weekend. (And then we drop, too.)
It’s a fine time to read — especially on a porch or outside. (At least here today!) Seems that’s pretty much all I’ve been doing lately so a good thing! Happy weekend.
Happy Weekend to you, Jeanie.
Stay safe.
Hope that Don’s gig goes well tonight.
Autumn is well and truly here and it’s looking like another wet one after the mostly dry summer.
It’s very stormy outside tonight and the wind is howling.
You’ll be pleased to know that new series of All Creatures Great and Small has begun recently.
I think it’s time to get out my knitting and carry on with the jumper that I have been making for at least two years!
Happy Friday
That means it will air in January here. Good news, Dee Dee! Thanks for letting me know.
Stay safe.
Loved that book! Definitely liked it better than the last one.
Glad you enjoyed it, Terri!
Stay safe.
