There’s a hollyhock! This is a different flower than the usual, but it’s the only one I could find at my local nursery, so I bought it. Pretty, isn’t it?
I seem to catapult back and forth between despair at what is happening in this country and excitement at the thought of seeing Don. Back and forth. Back and forth. And in the midst of that, I’m making lists and trying to get it together before I leave on Monday.
It was incredibly humid yesterday with the inevitable thunderstorm coming late in the afternoon. I took refuge inside the house for most of the afternoon and then I drove over to ‘the house’ to meet with my friends one more time and see it again. They have some landscaping ideas that might bring more light to the back yard.
I don’t know for sure, but I think they might make an offer.
And in the strangeness of life, I’ll see them again next week in San Diego as we are all attending the same matinee performance of Don’s show. I don’t see Rick for years and then I see him in NYC at his retirement celebration, then I see him again this week as he looks for a house where I live, and next week I’ll see him in California.
Go figure.
Lots to do. Do you ever have a deadline and you know you have to accomplish a lot and you seem incapable of moving? That’s how I am at the moment.
Ah well.
Happy Saturday.

I understand your deadline paralysis! I have it twice a year as we move from one end of the country to the other. Then, I also experience it when company is coming. I think that a big to-do list just aggravates my normal anxiety level, turning it into full-blown panic. I try to remember that the things that don’t get done will probably not be the end of the world…que sera sera, sort of.
And the RAIN! I am so tired of it. The long-awaited peonies had just started to open and were promptly drowned. They are now hanging their heavy limp heads from their stakes like laundry that didn’t go through a spin cycle. Luckily, I had a premonition about the weather, and cut two to bring inside, where they are enjoying a their golden hours.
Claudia says
That seems like an unwritten rule: when peonies bloom, torrential rain will follow!

The humidity makes me feel like I’m moving in slow motion anyway, so with deadlines it’s even harder. I am appalled once again at what is going on in our country. I’m praying and trying to hang on to hope. Enjoy your weekend, get your stuff ready and fly to see Don! Hugs!
Claudia says
I’m hunkering down in the house, washing clothes, cleaning, etc., because it’s so friggin’ humid outside!
Donnamae says
I totally understand that feeling…I become sort of numb, thinking in my weird thoughts, that everything has to be perfect before I leave. For whom? The burglars…lol? Than I magically snap out of it…and tackle the list, not everything gets done…and that is okay. (I just chalk it up to an unreasonable to do list on my part, in the first place.) Your hollyhock is gorgeous….you’ll get everything done. Remember, you will soon be off flying to see your guy! ;)
Claudia says
I like the house to be clean when I get back home and Noble will be in and out watering the plants, so…

You’ll get most or all of it done, Claudia. I have faith in your abilities. Focus! Monday will be here soon and you’ll be on my side of the world!
Claudia says
48 hours from now, I’ll be on the plane, ready for takeoff!

i am sure you will soon have everything crossed off your “to do” list! hope you have time to rest. (i can relate to that feeling … moved this last week into a much smaller place now filled with boxes to unpack. i am very tired, but can tell already that it’s worth the time, energy and expenses and am in a much better place.)
nice of you to help your friends house-hunt. hope they love the house and become your neighbors.
safe travels out to california and back! the road trip sounds fun and seeing the musical will be, too, but the best part, of course, will be your reunion. :)

So glad you’re in a better place, Kathy! Good for you.
I hope to see Margaritaville twice – Wednesday and on closing night.
Vicki says
You’ll do it; you’ll get there. And, before you know it, you’ll fall into Don’s arms. And just think after you’ve traveled all the miles to get back home, how you’ll both feel walking through the door of your lovely cottage…together!
Claudia says
It will be lovely, that’s for sure!
Marilyn says
Those flowers are lovely. Hopefully Rick will purchase the house near you.

Fingers crosse, Marilyn. But if they don’t choose this one, they’ll still end up in this area and that will be great.

Best wishes and safe travels on your way west!!! I know it has been a very hard time. Your flowers are lovely by the way! Becky in very humid and hot Oklahoma!
Claudia says
Very humid and hot here, as well! My camera lens just steamed up! Thanks for your good wishes, Becky!

What gets done will get done and what doesn’t will be waiting when you get home…lol…I’m so excited for you!
Claudia says
Thank you, Nancy!
