Beauty in a Bleak World

October 2, 2026 at 8:41 am by Claudia

The burning bush is starting to turn red. Fall is definitely here.

I’ve been feeling under the weather for the past two days, so not much has happened. We need to mow the lawn but that has been put on hold until I perk up. Maybe tomorrow? Or today, if I eventually feel a lot better.

I did paint the bookcases red, but it’s too dark in the studio to get a good picture. I’ll share one tomorrow. Honestly, I liked the pink, but red seemed to be best for the room. I don’t know how many coats of paint there are on these shelves now, but I know there are a lot.

I’m reading Daniel Silva’s newest thriller. I’ve read every book in his Gabriel Allon series. I know I will lose myself in the story and that’s a comfort. The last two books I checked out were disappointing and I didn’t finish them. I have several on hold with the library system.

I am doing my best to distract myself from the pain of living in a country I no longer recognize. The heartbreak, horror, and anger I feel, I must  feel. But I can’t stay there. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
