Beauty on the Page & Tulips

May 4, 2010 at 11:13 am by Claudia

Warning: these publications contain so many beautiful images, so much eye-candy, if you will, that we recommend reading them in several short sessions, spread over several days.

Actually, it isn’t far from the truth! I so look forward to these issues and when I finally have them in my hands, I find myself reading little bits at a time. There is so much to take in and I find that I can only handle a little before I come down with a full-fledged case of ‘Beauty Overload.’ I suspect I also want to take my time so that I don’t get to that final page too soon.

I’ve started reading Where Women Create – some of my favorite bloggers are featured, including Karen Valentine and Elizabeth Maxon. I’m so happy for them both! I know that Beverly and Pink Saturday are featured in Artful Blogging – a well deserved recognition of all the work Beverly does every week in her role as hostess of this event.

Back to rehearsals today. Last night I attended a lovely tribute to Raul Moncada, friend and colleage of many years when I worked here full-time. He was just 64 when he died. But what a lesson he taught us – grab life by the horns and live it fully. He had such an amazing life; born in Cuba, eventually making a life in the United States. He was an actor, a translator, a playwright, a stage manager. He traveled the world. He was loved by many, including Don and me.

New tulips from Trader Joe’s. I always love flowers around my home, of course, but especially so here in this temporary lodging. They add life and beauty to the apartment. They make me smile. And you can’t beat that morning light, can you?

Have a wonderful day.

I just keep staring at the tulips and have pretty much decided that I need to go buy some today. That morning light you get in your apartment is quite ethereal and warms the heart.

P.S. I’m having a flag giveaway so if you need one for your house back East come and leave a comment!

Oh my goodness those tulips are so lovely! So nice that you get such wonderful light in your apartment in the mornings.

How sad that your friend Raul has left the world so early, but how wonderful that he lived such a full life and apparently enriched so many lives including yours.

I’ve never seen those mags but see them mentioned all the time on blogs – they look more amazing than I imagined. Jody (@ Peach Blossom Hill) is sending me a parcel soon, I’ll have to ask her if she can lay her hands on these and include them. We are so deprived way down here ‘downunder’ that we need ‘care packages’ LOL

Have a great day Claudia, and thanks for the nice comment on my blog recently :)

    Hugs from far far away

The tulips are beautiful and the morning light is amazing in your apt.

I want to look for those magazines the next time I’m in a larger town with bookstores. I’ve seen them on several blogs and they look so inspiring.

We are having another windy day here in our part of Kansas.
    Take care.

I’ll have to run and get that magazine but I get depressed when seeing all those lovely spaces, sweets! BUT we’ll be in San Diego….squeeeeeeal….on saturday to visit UCSD as our grandson got accepted to their pharmacology dept. there. It’s parents day and I AM a parent of the parent, right? Then it’s off to Old Town for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then visit the homes we lived in while living there. I can’t wait!

    Hello Claudia,
I love your tulips, they are such a great color.
I see the sun pouring in the window.

I keep all my Somerset mags around for quite a while. I re read them all the time, seeing things I didn’t the first few times through. They are so inspiring!

I hope you are having a good day,
    Hugs,

A sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm Claudia. Lovely tulips, and so wonderful that you are making a beautiful environment for yourself away from MHC. I’m struggling right now with my blog – I need to clearly define my purpose – I’m hoping that my reason for blogging is really just a note to myself to remind myself that I am accomplishing things. Does that sound nutty? Sigh… Ciao, bella!

Boy, you’ve lost more folks than your fair share lately, Claudia. I’m really sorry. In terms of the publications, I do the same thing you do! Drag it out over days, savoring every photo and word. Been thinking a lot about you lately. Wondering about you in that apartment and the whole job thing.

Those magazines are incredible! I was so happy to see the Pink Saturday article in Artful Blogging. I was also excited that one of my photos made it in too. I hope to blog about it later today. I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend. Your tulips are gorgeous!! I haven’t been inside a Trader Joes since moving from OR several years ago. Charlotte has two of them! I can hardly wait to get there as I so enjoy that store. ♥

Need to check out those magazines. I am sure I will be drooling all over the pages. Last time I brought home flowers for our dining room table, Rocky ate them. Oh my!!!!

Sounds like all is going well.

    Enjoy each day.

    Hi Claudia,
Thanks for the reminder about the WWC, I’ve got to run to town to get it. I looked for it earlier but it wasn’t out yet.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, Raul but how blessed he shared his love of life with you. His spirit will be with you and Don always.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
