Thanks for your kind words yesterday. I ended up being rather busy all day, which certainly helped. When I wasn’t busy, I did a lot of reading, which was just what I needed.

My white David Phlox has reseeded in the main garden. Some of it is purple and some of it is….
Pink! I love it when that happens.
Masses of rudbeckia.
The big garden bed is at its peak…August always brings the winding down of the garden.
I can’t go there yet. Not ready.
Have a Happy Friday.
Claudia, I know how you feel. I love when every thing is in bloom and it feels wonderful to be in summer. Seeing things start to die off , makes me feel sad. Hope you can enjoy your flowers and birds today too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Same to you, Susie. Let’s enjoy this beauty while it lasts.
I don’t want to go there yet, either :)
Then let’s not go!
wow…august first already….42 years ago, i married my highschool sweet-heart…still married to the same old “meathead”…..(he calls me ding-bat!!)…well, on this day 42 years ago, it USED to be called “friendship day” on the calendar….that was also the day of our FIRST date…so we got married on that day (a tuesday then)….well, they have not had friendship day on the calendar since then!!! ummm… enjoy the rest of august claudia….
Happy Anniversary, Sharon! Have a wonderful day with your sweetheart.
It is soooo hot here in Southern California! The roses love the heat so there’s color in my yard. It’s to hot to go outside and work…but then…I do get that touch of green from all the weeds! Love the photos of your birds… thanks for sharing your backyard friends.
Looking forward to autumn.
It’s hot here today, too.
Gardens and books are the best healing places.
They are, indeed.
August already! I feel like I’ve not really had a summer. Oh well, at least I’m enjoying some time with my daughter this week!
hugs,
Linda
The summer seems to go by so quickly, Linda. Enjoy your time with your daughter.
Dear little birds and beautiful flowers..Please do not be in a hurry to leave us this year..We still need your happiness..
Yes we do!
Yes, August seems to have arrived suddenly. Our gardens are looking lush, but I’ve already noticed leaves coming down from trees and our burning bushes are beginning to turn. I do love Fall and it’s my favorite season, so I’m ok with that. Lovely pictures as always Claudia — especially like that gorgeous bird on the fence. We are expecting a wet weekend, so I think I will stay in and do sewing, reading, cooking…and try to avoid the cleaning – ha-ha. Hope your weekend is fun.
We’ve had some leaves falling, as well. Do not like. The skies are looking stormy right now and I hear it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.
Oy, the winding down? I don’t want to think about going there yet either! Seems to me like last Winter’s snow and cold just left. Personally I’m praying for a very long, warm Indian summer-type Fall. With no snow until Christmas Eve. We need the warmth to make up for last Winter. And I think we deserve it too. PS – that pink phlox is just gorgeous. Sweet little flower “face.” Have a great weekend, Claudia and family…
Yes, I want it to be warmish for a longer time, please! I’m not at all ready for Fall.
I always love seeing your garden and wild life pictures. They look like something on a post card!
I’m not ready for Autumn yet- today is so spring like! It is overcast and cool, only 75* right now and it’s 1:00 pm!
I’m sitting outside with the kids and they are playing in the yard without a care! I love to hear their laughter and squeals.
have a wonderful day and weekend, my friend!
Pat
Nothing better than hearing a child laugh, Pat. Such joy!
This summer seems to have flown by. Your flowers look lovely. Great pictures! I can’t believe it’s August already. Have a great weekend.
Where did the time go?
We were treated to a day at Epcot and Hollywood Studios yesterday by Donavin (our neighbor/like a son to us). He works at the Magic Kingdom and got us in free. I have a bad foot so he pushed me in a wheel chair, took extra good care of his 2nd mom. Every time we saw another beautiful blooming plant I thought of you Claudia. It was such a sweet day, the humidity was much lower than usual and it was a joy to be out of doors. Hope you enjoy your day friend.
I think my niece and her kids were there yesterday, too. So glad the humidity was down and you could enjoy your outing, Janie!
I didn’t realize phlox bloomed this late…I thought it only bloomed in Spring! I’m really not ready to go there just yet…so I’m going to ignore the fact that you alluded to it! ;)
The wild phlox around here blooms in the spring – this particular phlox, David Phlox, always blooms toward the end of July.
Good to know…I’ll put it on my list for possibilities next year! ;)
I love your gardens Claudia. They are surely wonderful. However, I have always wondered why you don’t grow vegetables. Being a vegetarian I thought for sure you would.
Too many deer and bunnies, Trudy. We don’t have the money to install super high fencing to keep both kinds of critters out. So we don’t grow vegetables. Maybe some day. It’s also hard for us to maintain a veggie garden when we are often away for 5 – 10 weeks at a time.
What kind of bird is that on the fence, Claudia?
Sorry for the late reply, Melanie. It’s a House Finch. Tiny and beautiful.
