Blooming & Painting

May 27, 2021 at 9:30 am by Claudia

The clematis is blooming and I see buds on the peonies, although they’re aren’t many this year. The truth is, I tend to leave the peonies alone and probably shouldn’t. One of them needs to be moved as it is now in the shade because of the tree that grown in the middle of the bush. I just somehow never get around to it come autumn.

We had thunderstorms yesterday evening and we’ll have more rain tomorrow, but today is lovely. Don swears he saw tiny beaks in the robin’s nest yesterday so I’m going to quietly and carefully investigate. I suspect the wrens have babies, too, but I haven’t heard any cheeps. One of them is in and out of the entrance hole, carrying worms. I was telling Don that once these babies have fledged, I’ll really miss the wrens. Their song has been a constant and I’ve loved watching them. I won’t missed being harassed by the robins, however!

From yesterday:

Just playing with paint. Clearly, I like clouds.

I’m working on a study of the Secret Garden. I don’t have the skill set for minute detail, so it will definitely be my “interpretation” of that space. Wish me luck – I’ll need it.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

nope, not wishing … you don’t need luck! you have lots and lots of creativity and innate talent, plus curiosity and the drive to learn/do something new for you. the paintings you’ve shown us back me up. :) keep going!

glad you’ve had some rain, bird sightings and serenades, those pretty flowers and a day to do what you want.

i am a cloud lover, too (especially if they bring rain). my phone is full of many, many cloud photos and videos.

    happy, safe thursday.

I think your painting is quite good. I got the feel of the motion of the clouds. I love to watch clouds and identify shapes in them.

You are definitely an ‘impressionist’ with this painting. I really like your landscape, reminds me of Pissarro (if I’m recalling one if my favorites correctly). Of course, your clouds are lovely, too.

Too much preoccupation with local news here. Sad events. Not wanting to bring down this beautiful mood you have displayed today. Keep it going.

I am enjoying your exploration of oil painting. You don’t need luck; you’re doing fine; you’re only just starting. Have fun! Just go with it.

When I just go with it, I find the painting flows quite easily.

Oh…your clematis…so beautiful. I have one the exact color…I think it’s rewarded us, after this last year, with its profusion of blooms.

Great painting …you don’t need luck…you already have oodles of talent. Enjoy your day! ;)

I trimmed my lilac bush today. Hope I get more blooms next year! I still have a giant forsythia to trim. I don’t know how you keep up with your large gardens every where. It always looks so nice! I am always behind with my weeding and trimming, etc.!!

Your climatis is such a lovely, brilliant color! And oh, baby beaks — that’s exciting!

I am fond of your painting — such a sense of motion in those clouds! I’ll be eager to see your interpretation of your secret garden.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
