Books and Little Boots

February 24, 2024 at 8:10 am by Claudia

Thank you for sharing your “visit” stories yesterday. They were so powerful. I have yet to respond to the individual comments, but I will later today.

It’s another somewhat gloomy day here – so far – through I do see some blue sky and clouds in the distance, so perhaps the sun will make an appearance? Fingers crossed. I had to go to Target and Michael’s yesterday to get more packing material for Etsy orders. This morning I’ll be packing a box and, hopefully, getting it to the post office before they close at noon.

I ended up reading The Year of the Locust  for most of the day yesterday. What a read! I’m very close to finishing it, but I’ll save that pleasure until this afternoon, when I can give it all my time. It is a spy thriller with a splash of time travel and my goodness, what a story! I will be sad when it ends. Very sad. I hope Terry Hayes is already writing his next book.

Then I’ll tackle my chunk of Wolf Hall  for this week. I usually have it read by this point in the week, but Locust has had my attention.

My friend in Japan made these little boots. They arrived here recently and I have yet to put them on one of the girls. I will be sure to do that this weekend. Aren’t they amazing? How does she do it?

Okay, my friends. A short post today. I’m not feeling great at the moment and I have a lot to do this morning.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday,

I will title the opening photo, Taking a Bow—and what a performance it was, during their season. The boots are adorable. Someone will be thrilled to try them out. I’m next in line at the library for Year of the Locust and looking forward to it. Reading Yellowface at the moment.

I loved Yellowface. And I know you’ll love The Year of the Locust, Shanna.

      Taking a Bow – Perfect!

      Stay safe.

Those boots! I’d like them in my size, please.

On the “visits” front my mother (100 next birthday!) had frequent visits from my father, her husband of almost 70 years, after his death. He would come and stand in the bedroom door and smile at her after she went to bed for the night. I asked her if she ever saw him in the morning and she said “no, of course not, he always sleeps in late in the morning”.

I laughed out loud at her matter-of-fact response, Ceci. Love this story!

      Thank you.

Those boots are adorable. Wonder who’s going to model them?

Our weather has been/is changing constantly. I think we’ve had 3 seasons in a week. Yesterday we got a quarter inch of snow…now everything is white. But by Sunday it will be 52…Mother Nature seems to be confused.

Your picture reminded me that there is garden clean up to do. Spring is almost here I hope…time to get busy.

    Enjoy your reading! ;)

Those little boots are so charming and if you wern’t holding them in your hand one might think they were people size. I’m constantly amazed when I see the wonderful workmenship hat goes into creating the Blythe doll clothes. It’s very cold here today but the sky is blue and the sun is shining. Enjoy your weekend with Don. Hugs, Elaine

Lovely shoes. I would like them in big for myself. But then they wouldn’t be as cute as the tiny ones.

Enjoy the weekend and your girls.

Those boots really are amazing, especially considering how the soles and uppers are actually sewn together! I had a hard enough time making something my size many years ago… sewing was never a task I enjoyed, thus it was a task! We’re supposed to get to the low 70s today…yay! Hope you feel better soon!

I could never sew anything like that!

      Thanks, Barrie.

lovely photo … your time to garden again is coming soon.

and the tiny boots are adorable.

happy, safe saturday and sunday to you, don and everyone else.

    xo,

Oh Claudia, those little boots are too darned adorable for words! Have a lovely Sunday! Rick is hosting a house concert with a classical guitarist — 50 people are coming and we don’t know where we’ll put them all. He’s hoping for some no-shows!

It’s sunny and warming up here so our snow from Friday is melting quickly. I hope to get out for a walk this afternoon.
I am reading “Making it so” by Sir Patrick Stewart. It is very interesting and he writes with honesty and humor. He talks so much about the craft of acting and how he learned it. What a life he has had!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
