Busy Playing

February 9, 2022 at 9:35 am by Claudia

I actually did some work on the dollhouse.

Yes. I’m not kidding.

I applied two coats of mod podge to seal the stones. Now for grout. Frankly it makes me nervous. It could dramatically change the look of the house. So I’m going to try it on the two rows of stones at the back of the house first. The grout mix I have on hand is a dark gray. I may try to lighten it a bit – how, I’m not sure. This will be tricky.

Okay, I’m going to stop talking about it or I’ll talk myself out of it.

Breaking news: It’s sunny today!

The puzzle is coming along nicely. I dropped off the box of eggcups and they are now winging their way to Birmingham, AL. They should arrive at Country Living’s offices tomorrow. I vacuumed. I did the aforementioned work on the dollhouse.

And I dressed little Livvy in this outfit, which arrived in yesterday’s mail and took about two months to get here.

Socks, dress, and pinafore from LenaLittleDress on Instagram. (I have many of her adorable outfits.) There was another dress in the package but I have to decide who should model it.

Livvy is darned adorable. Her face is so beautifully carved (by VegaDolls) and those eyes!

Dolls, dollhouses, books, puzzles = Claudia’s favorite avenues of escape.

Yesterday was the 6th anniversary of the day we said goodbye to Scoutie. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been 6 years, just as it doesn’t seem possible that my dad has been gone for 6 years. I lost my dad on October 29th of 2015 and Scoutie on the following February 8th. Just a little over 3 months apart.

Oh lord. The ad that just came up on the sidebar was for “Pilates for Seniors.”

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

I’m envious of Livvy’s pink hair. Anniversaries are hard :( Be well, Claudia.

I know it photographed more pink in this photo, but it’s really a lavender color – the base doll was a Blythe doll called Simply Orchid.

      Thanks so much, Karen!

      Stay safe.

Oh dear, what a sad memory loosing your sweet Scout and your Dad. I remember those sad days. Which also means I have been a reader of your blog for a long time. Long before your losses, that seems amazing to me.
I am glad you have some sun.
    Take Care,
    Kaye

Its great to have escape hobbies for sure. I’m working on my first scrap journal and its been fun. Doing more mixed media art and enjoying it. Love the new outfit. Oh yes sweet Scoutie and My Charlie within a couple of days of each other. It was good to share our grief as it helped me not to feel alone. Big Hugs.

I remember so well our shared experience. It helped so much to know you understood, Linda. Missing Charlie.

      Stay safe.

Those anniversary days just pop up, don’t they, and they’re always tough. I don’t think I’ll ever forget Gypsy’s.

The house looks great. I can see why you’re worried. A little white paint in the grout water. Maybe a lot of white paint? It would be good if you could start light and if you need to go darker you can.

I’m guessing, since some of the girls are of different heights that some but not all the clothes are interchangeable. Right or am I way off?

My puzzle is plugging along. Right now I’m struggling with the New Yorker title and once that’s done I feel like I’ll be good to go. I have parts of other spaces done. I just love this puzzle! That and proofing a book for a friend, finally PACKING away Christmas (it was down in the basement but not in all its bins) — that’s my world these days. Still have to do my 30 minutes in the office today. Or else clean the fridge — my other two options of productivity on the docket! I’d rather puzzle!

I went with the dark which dries lighter and I really like the end result.

All of the clothes are interchangeable. The two girls with Obitsu bodies are a wee bit shorter than the standard body. The licca body on Olivia is the shortest. But they can all wear the same clothes. Most artisans making the clothes make them with all body types in mind.

I always do the edges and the New Yorker title first. Then I feel like it has structure. But the letter in the title can take a long time to figure out!

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Too funny. That Pilates “ad” pops up right before the comment section of your post. It is always a bit jarring to go from your lovely pictures to that montage.

Sounds like you are keeping busy! I can understand your hesitancy about the grout, but, I also know you will figure it out. Those anniversaries are so very hard. In our nearly 50 years of marriage, there have been too many, and too many more to contemplate.

Some great Olympic watching tonight. I KNOW what you mean about the commentators and their trendy language “skills”. Most especially on the snowboarding venues. Wait until tonight and tomorrow night when they all put their actual big jumps out there for the first time! Their vocabulary will be tested. I have to say the Ice Skating itself, as well as the commentators, have been really good, I think. Enjoy!! and take care.

It’s an ugly ad, as well!

It’s really only the commentators in snowboarding. But the ones that do the half-pipe are much more articulate, as well as those for every other event. I love Tara and Johnny – they are excellent!

      Stay safe, Chris.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
