Catching Up

September 9, 2021 at 9:11 am by Claudia

I don’t have to coach today which is a blessing. Because of the time difference between Ben’s place in London and my cottage, coaching usually occurs smack dab in the middle of the day and, for whatever reason – mostly because it takes a lot of energy to coach, I’m tired at the end of the session so nothing else gets done. Yesterday, I went on a walk beforehand, had some lunch, and then did prep for the upcoming session. I’m glad I got the walk in, but heavens, there’s a lot that needs to be done around here.

So, that’s on the agenda for today, as well as some time spent painting. As you can see, the vase has some texture in the form of those cream colored marks throughout the lower part of the vase. I’m going to attempt that today.

It’s a rainy day here today. We had thunderstorms last night, but today’s rain is a gentle one.

I’m also planning on finishing The Chalk Pit  today. I’ve been preoccupied lately with two jobs upcoming and ironing out all those details, so I’ve neglected my reading.

And it looks like my doll will be delivered today. Hurrah!

Side note: Do you believe those idiots in Florida and Texas are calling women ‘host bodies?’ Maybe I should call them ‘sperm receptacles.’

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

Hi Claudia, please believe not all people in Florida are idiots. I can’t believe some of the things that are happening and I have lived here all my life and that is a good many years! I pray we can turn this around with next years election. We need a governor with a brain and a moral compass that includes all the decent people in this state. Pray for us!!

Of course I know that. My sister lives in Florida, remember? I’m so sorry you have to deal with this man. My sister is furious with him. Absolutely praying for you!

      Stay safe, Janet!

When you have some time I would love to hear a little more about how you actually coach someone on dialects.

I am afraid I can believe those idiots calling women ‘host bodies.’ If you haven’t read The Handmaid’s Tale I recommend it. It doesn’t seem so far fetched these days.
I found it very disturbing to read. It is also a tv series on Hulu but the book of course is better and more detailed.

I hope your doll arrives today! Exciting!

It’s one thing to say it in a fictional book, quite another to say it on a news show and in public. I am furious, of course.

      Stay safe, Marilyn.

    Yes I get it.
Anything scheduled in the middle of the day does not work for me.
I always schedule my Dr. appointments first thing in the morning otherwise I feel like I can’t get anything done.
I am sure no matter what time you are scheduled for coaching you are thankful for the work.
Yes the Florida governor is a nightmare but we think this will all backfire on him.

Of course I’m thankful. I say it all the time.

      Thanks Linda.

I’ve been so far from the news I hadn’t heard about the host bodies. Ugh. The painting is looking great and I’m glad you’ll be back to it today! Enjoy a more mellow day!

I didn’t get back to it as I did a lot of cleaning and had a long conversation with my sister. And my doll arrived, so now I’m playing dress up!

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

I do not watch the news at all…haven’t since the end of the election day 2016….saves me stress of which I have enough in daily life. I know what I believe…I also know that others have the right to believe what they do…nothing in politics surprises me at all…nothing…nothing…for now…why aren’t they concentrating on Covid?

They are. There is much in the news and from Dr. Fauci about COVID. People have a right to believe what they do as long as (in the case of politics and COVID) that belief is supported by facts.

      Stay safe, Brenda.

I am anxious to see the background color you choose. It is always unique and a surprise.

I can’t believe those anti choice people either. Maybe they are desperate for a diversion.

They’re desperate for power, I think. And to send people of color and women back to the dark ages.

      Stay safe, Kay.

I have many women friends of all ages and we are all absolutely livid at Texas and Florida. Livid and frightened. But that is the point, isn’t it? To put us back in our place. We need a national strike and walk out to show our collective power.

We do indeed! If we all walked out of our jobs on the same day, everything would come crashing down.

      Stay safe. Carolyn Marie.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
