Pink Saturday

January 23, 2010 at 1:05 am by Claudia

Hello, everyone – Happy Pink Saturday! As always, please stop by and visit our hostess, Beverly, for a list of everyone participating.

Today I am sharing a chair that I won on eBay. It’s for my dollhouse. It’s pink, of course!

This is how it looked when I received it. Cute, but since I am going for a shabby country chic look, I have a change in mind.

I just had to ‘shabbify’ this sweet chair – there, that’s better!

Here it is with the coffee table I previously transformed. This is such fun – and much faster than painting the adult-sized furniture in my house!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Goodbye, Sweet Nella

January 19, 2010 at 5:48 pm by Claudia

My parents had to bid farewell to Nella today. She had been suffering with kidney failure for a few years. Within the last few days, Nella stopped eating and had difficulty walking for any more than a few steps. My Dad emailed me this morning to inform me that they would be taking Nella to the Veterinarian for one last visit. We are all filled with sadness. She was such a wonderful companion to my parents for 13 years. I spent the day running errands, but Nella and my parents were never very far from my thoughts.

When I arrived home, Don said there was a message from my Dad to call him. They said goodbye to Nella at 11:30 this morning. We talked about our grief for a bit and then he said they had ‘2 visitors.’ ‘Who?’ ‘Lydia and Luke.’ (I had never heard my parents mention a Lydia or a Luke.) It turns out they are 2 abandoned kittens that the Vet had been fostering. They have been adopted by my parents. I couldn’t be happier for them. For my Mom and Dad, Nella was a constant source of amusement and delight. They loved watching her and cuddling her. They need that. They need, like all of us, to nuture and take care of something. Lydia and Luke found my parents and I have to believe that Nella would be happy for them.

Pink Saturday

January 9, 2010 at 1:05 am by Claudia

Happy Pink Saturday! Please visit Beverly for a list of everyone participating.

From a box of linens bought at auction, I found this sweet dresser scarf:

Oooh – pink! What to do with it? Then I thought of this undecorated window at the top of the stairs.

This window is in my ‘studio.’ I use the term loosely – but the whole upstairs landing and hallway is my creative space. This is a glimpse of the area just to the right of the window.

I had an extra curtain rod left after I hung curtains in the living room and bathroom. So I went to work and put up the rod. Then I ran to Lowe’s and bought clips to hang the dresser scarf. Total cost: $4.00.

It is so gosh darn hard to get a good photo with the light coming in. Here’s a couple more:

It was a gray and snowy day as I took these photos! I love my new valance – it works perfectly in the color palette of pink, aqua and lavender that runs throughout the ‘studio’ space.

Have a great day everyone. We are off to Manhattan tonight to see one of my former students, along with another friend of ours, perform in a production of Present Laughter by Noel Coward. It is on Broadway and I am very excited to see one of my favorite students work on a Broadway stage.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
