The Scene Right Outside the Rehearsal Rooms

May 1, 2009 at 11:34 am by Claudia

This is what I see as I am about to enter the Rehearsal Rooms. The rooms are downstairs in the basement of a building ~ so this view is much appreciated. I try to spend some time here everyday.

Hope you enjoy the view!

Early Sunday

April 19, 2009 at 11:53 am by Claudia

I’m afraid my body clock hasn’t adjusted to the time change yet, so I keep waking up quite early. On one hand, I need more sleep. On the other hand, I love the quiet of the early morning hours. The day promises to be a very warm one here in San Diego. I walked to the theater yesterday, and let me tell you, I felt the heat! Perhaps I sweated some pounds off? I have to walk there again today because it is Earth Day and in Balboa Park parking will be impossible. By the way, Happy Earth Day! I plan to investigate some of the booths while making my way to the rehearsal hall.

My work here is picking up – as of Tuesday all the actors will be in town for the Summer Repertory and I will be coaching 4 productions at once. To say my plate will be full is an understatement!

I was a happy camper yesterday because I signed up for MLB -TV and can now watch the Red Sox on my laptop! Oh boy! I love that I can keep up with my favorite team. The quality of the feed is surprisingly good. I happily sat in my wicker chair watching the game and knitting.

My friend, Elyse, passed on an award to me and I am honored to accept it. Elyse has a wonderful blog called cottage. Please stop by and look at all her wonderful creations. She is a delightful person and I am so glad we are blogging friends. Don’t you just love the cottage logo she uses?

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone. Oh, almost forgot, La Maison Rustique’s barn sale is this Friday and Saturday! I can’t wait to go. Of course, I will once again take lots of photos to share with you.

Announcing – The Giveaway Winner!

February 22, 2009 at 2:14 pm by Claudia

I printed out all the names of the commenters, folded them up, put them in a bowl, closed my eyes and ta da! – the lovely Tam of The Gypsy’s Corner is the winner of the giveaway. Congratulations, Tam! I will be emailing you to get your address, so that I may send these goodies off to you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed choosing them.

Today I have to attend another rehearsal which is a run-through of The Greeks. This is the MFA student production which opens in less than a week. The next several days will be all about watching dress rehearsals, tech rehearsals, taking notes and hopefully, giving confidence to these wonderful young actors. They are a lovely group, I must say, and I am so glad that I have had the pleasure of getting to know them.

Rehearsal will end just in time to get home and watch the Oscars. I have, I am ashamed to say, seen exactly none of the movies nominated. None. My husband and I don’t like to go to the movie theater because people are too noisy, and it costs so much! We usually wait until they come out on DVD or are on pay-per-view. I did want to go to the theater and see “Slumdog Millionaire”, but never got around to it. Ah well. Nevertheless, I love the glitz and the glamour of the ceremony and will be eating popcorn while glued to the tube. I forgot that the ceremony is live here in California so that means a 5:30 pm start time. Funny the things you forget when you’ve been away for several years!

Have a great Sunday!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
