Clearing

February 22, 2019 at 8:58 am by Claudia

On their last legs. Nevertheless, so beautiful.

Yesterday was spent chopping ice, hacking away at the un-shoveled parking area at the top of our driveway – I could only manage half of it. We were completely wiped out afterwards. We have a two day window in which to tackle this; the temps are in the forties, snow is melting a bit, so if we’re going to get things back to normal now is the time.

We’re both still under the weather, but what can you do?

Since I feel like I’ve been held captive in the cottage for a month, I have to get out of here today or I will lose my mind. Truly. So it will be back out there this morning to get rid of the remaining snow and put some salt down so I can make my escape.

I’ve heard nothing but raves about Andrew McCabe’s new book, so I’m going to buy it. Especially since the dictator-wannabe in the Oval Office fired him 48 hours before his pension was going to kick in out of sheer cruelty. The more sales the better for Mr. McCabe, and a nice thumb-your-nose at the Orange Man.

What else? It was warm enough yesterday to open a window and I did. I wanted to air the cottage out after all the coughs and sneezes and the smell of Vicks.

That’s it for today, simply because there isn’t anything else to chat with you about and I have to get moving on the shoveling.

Happy Friday.

Cabin Fever! Oh my, I have had that more than a few times. Just need a change of scenery, and what better place to go than a bookstore! Just strolling a few isles and maybe spotting that book which has eluded you for years. Even looking at bookmarks, which I never buy because I just cut up my old calendars, is heavenly. Enjoy your outing and don’t work too hard. You and Don feel better very soon.

I know the must escape the house feeling. Today is a stay at home and do laundry day for me. I had so much to do yesterday but the results were good. Mom is doing well so she can go 6 mo before seeing the cardiologist again. My checkup was good and I’m doing well and just dealing with Bursitis (getting old is such fun). My eyes are good and I just need new glasses which I will try to get before leaving for Calif next month. For once all is well in my little world. I hope you get out and feel better. Hugs!

Claudia, Enjoy your outing to the bookshop! I usually don’t stay in my house long enough for cabin fever to set in, but there have been a handful of times. It’s disturbing! I’m like one of those big cats in small cages, pacing around my house trying to find something that would keep my interest.

I had a good outing yesterday. A friend invited me to accompany her to the senior center where she takes art classes. There was an exhibit by students in the art, stained glass/mosaic, and quilting classes. So much talent. I especially loved the stained glass. There was one section with about 10 tulips, all the same but different color combinations. I was told the first year students all make tulips. One man made a stained glass “photo” of his dog’s head, and used olive green and blue toned glass, among other colors. His dog’s personality really shone through.

Stained glass work always fascinates me. Glad you had a good time!

I have been watching him on interviews. I am pretty impressed, so I plan on buying it too.

I have it now. Just have to finish my current book and then I’ll start on McCabe’s book.

Warming up here too, albeit temporarily, and sunny — a refreshing change of pace. Still take it easy. I know you have a time frame to work with — but I’d hate to see either of you relapse!

I feel the same about Andy McCabe’s book. On my buy list too.

We’re taking it easy today, Jeanie. Hoping the rain takes care of the rest of the snow and ice.

It’s hard to know if my pup or I have cabin fever more! Color me Ready For Spring (or a couple days of 50 degree weather).

The plagues of winter…cabin fever, shoveling out, chopping ice., and more cabin fever. We ventured out to grab some groceries in anticipation of the next storm. Funny thing…all the stores in the city ran out of salt for melting ice after the last ice storm. So they were telling folks, if you can’t get any….use your water softener salt. No big deal you would think. Except now…we can’t get softener salt when we need it. They are sold out!

Hope you enjoyed your outing to the book store. His book is on my TBR list too! ;)

We’ve used water softener salt in the past. But the pellets are so big!

I’ve been keeping you and Don in my best thoughts. Can’t believe this “thing” is sticking around so long!! And in the midst of the frequent snow/ice stuff. My husband and I need help with that stuff and the nice guy who does it was chipping away yesterday at our porch, oil spout, etc., and told us this year his snow blower was about useless as there was so much ice in the snow. He was hand shoveling for everyone. Good thing he’s young!!! Good thing you and Don are young and strong and healthy! I’m going to buy McCabe’s book too altho his 60 Minutes interview sent me upstairs to my bedroom literally crying in fear (and some anger). Everything he said had the ring of truth to it. But I’m not sure my truth-detector works anymore. I do hope the weather is kinder and that you both get to feeling much better soon.

Don briefly thought of using the snow blower but he was sure the ice would bend the blades. So he didn’t. I think McCabe is telling the truth. He had to clear everything with the FBI before it could be published and disseminated.

Claudia, we learned a few years ago to park at the end of our driveway, near the road. Thus very little to shovel before we can pop out. Didn’t know if you were already doing this but thought I’d pass it along in case it could help.

Yes, Don does that. But my car couldn’t be there as well. So it had to be dug out. Thanks, Mary!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
