More clematis because it’s so lush this year! It climbs up and into the boxwood, which I love.
All this, and the wild roses have started to bloom! Soon, the peonies and the catalpas will join them.
I’ll say it again: my favorite time of year.
Though it’s chilly out there! Only a high of 60 today and even lower for the next two days, accompanied by rain. Some holiday weekend! Though I’m not a fan of the three-day weekend. I used to be, however, when I worked 40 hours a week in an office.
I’m still pecking away on my iPad. A post goes like this: I upload photos to my editing software and then I export them to my blog, which I open on my laptop so that I can do a security check and upload those photos to a draft post. Then I save the draft, open my iPad and sign on to the blog again. I open the draft post and write the text, which takes twice as long as it does when I use the keyboard. I proofread, then publish, whereupon I refresh the blog on the laptop and proof it again, making any revisions necessary. All replies to comments happen on the iPad.
All because I don’t have a working “t” on the keyboard.
I have an appointment at the Apple Store for next Tuesday.
By the way, did I tell you that my husband took my car to a place where it was fully detailed? Since we’ve both been using the car for over a year, he wanted me to have a fresh car, inside and out. It now looks like I just drove it out of the dealer’s lot! Gorgeous!
Series recommendation: Bordertown on Netflix. It’s from Finland, it’s a police procedural but so much more than that, and it’s excellent. Incredible acting from one and all. Yes, there are subtitles. Truthfully, I prefer them nowadays. We never watch network television ( I exclude PBS from this category, of course.) We’ve seen such a high level of excellence from all over the world in the past year. Our horizons have been broadened. Bonus: other countries are not obsessed with casting beautiful young people in every role, along with one token character actor. They actually appreciate age, character lines, and realistic casting. I knew England did, but it’s good to know the same holds true in other countries.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Yes, Bordertown is wonderful, especially the lead actor. Highly recommend.
Claudia says
He is brilliant. Superb.
Glad you enjoy it, too, Terri.
Stay safe!

It is rather wonderful to watch a show where people don’t look butchered & botoxed, with duck bills for lips, isn’t it?We don’t mind the sub titles on shows from outside America, as I sometimes struggle a bit understanding even those who speak English with a lovely accent. We just finished Atlantic Crossing last Sunday, which we really enjoyed.
A cold weekend here. High of 52 today & a Frost adv for tonite. Ugh. Supposed to work up to a high of 70* on Monday. Quite unusual weather, for sure.
So now you & Don both have rather new-to-you vehicles! Fun! Enjoy your day & take care.
Claudia says
Even I, a dialect coach, have trouble understanding some of the accents!
It was 89 here two days ago and now it’s 25 degrees colder.
Stay safe, Chris!

The clematis is georgous!
That Don! Very thoughtful of him to have your car detailed. Mine really needs it.
It has been cold and rainy here too. I think it’s heading your way.
Stay safe
Claudia says
I’ve never had a car detailed before! I don’t think Don has, either.
It’s cold and rainy here today and will be tomorrow, too.
Stay safe, Marilyn.

Bordertown is on my watchlist. I’m glad to hear about it from someone who has seen it!
Three cheers on the detailed car! What a treat. Well, it’s 43 here in Michigan at 1:12 pm, so I’d say you are having a heat wave by our standards! I don’t know what the wind chill is but it’s blowing like crazy and wet and gloomy. I’m ready for a cuppa tea and my book!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Claudia says
Cold here too, but not as cold as where you are!
It’s damp and all I want to do is nap.
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Thanks for the Netflix recommendation. We are used to subtitles now and leave them on all the time. It helps with the blasting music that seems to accompany the few network programs we watch.
The clematis is gorgeous. We used to have one in our yard as a kid.
Enjoy your weekend. You both can probably use a rest from your labors.
Claudia says
Oh my god – the music is so loud! It’s insane.
Stay safe, Kay,

Yes, the losses have been heartbreaking and I’m sorry you’ve experienced so many, Brenda.
We’re now facing the fact that we’re going to lose Don’s nephew. We can’t get our heads around it.
Stay safe.
Linda says
Oh I am so so sorry for your losses
I truly am

I see Chris gave you the Wisconsin weather report….unbelievable weather we are having. I’ll be covering up my veggies tonight.
Just wondering, did your clematis ever have a trellis to grow up on? Or has it always just naturally latched in to whatever was in its vicinity. I have one that fell over on itself..,and continues to spread on the ground. So lovely.
Atlantic Crossing on PBS had subtitles some of the time…I didn’t mind that. That show was great. But I can’t deal with an entire show or movie with subtitles. Guess I’m a wimp in that department.
Don was such a sweetie to have your car detailed. What a guy. Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
It’s supported by a small 3 ft high trellis, but that’s it!
By the way, I bet you could deal with a whole movie with subtitles. After about ten minutes you don’t even notice the difference.
It’s very cold and damp here. It’s making me sleepy!
Stay safe, Donnamae!
Jen says
Thanks for the recommendation. I’m just finishing Shtisel, have you watched it? It’s also on Netflix and has subtitles.
Claudia says
No, I haven’t seen it yet, Jen
Stay safe!

I’ve noticed that in the British shows that we watch. Not everyone is so gorgeous that it looks like another world. It looks like normal people in our world. I happen to love British shows because of that. Not to mention the great writing, which does not center on extreme violence all the time. And people get arrested by a cop or two not a whole police force with guns and bullet proof vests.
Claudia says
American series tend to be over-the-top in terms of just about everything.
Stay safe, Jan.

Love the clematis, so pretty. We have also been watching Bordertown and are enjoying it very much. We find we’re gravitating towards the Nordic type dramas, they seem to be very well done. 2 I can highly recommend are Valhalla Murders and The Bridge, probably the best thing I have seen for a long time.
I’m so very sorry to read about Don’s nephew. Life is beautiful but can be cruel too. We have to try and enjoy the good bits when we can. Take care
Claudia says
Thank you, Fiona.
I’ll write those titles down.
Stay safe.
Fiona says
Just a note to say I was referring to the Swedish version of The Bridge, superb acting.
