Cold, Cubbies, Christmas

December 23, 2024 at 8:10 am by Claudia

Good morning! It’s -1° as I write this. The weekend has been bitterly cold, but the ‘warm up’ will start today as we hit the mid 20s. Only a low of 16° tonight – positively balmy! Even though it was frigid yesterday, the sun was shining on the snow and it was quite beautiful out there.

We watched It’s a Wonderful Life  last night and, of course, I cried. Tonight, we watch A Christmas Carol  with Alastair Sim, and tomorrow, The Bishop’s Wife.

Cubby Christmas:

I have a short video of them on my IG Blythe feed from a week or two ago, but I am unable to post videos here.

Anyway, I love decorating their shelves. The view from my chair here in the den makes me smile. The cubbies are directly across the room from me and the Christmas tree is just to the right. Not bad!

I don’t have the energy to undress them all and put them in Christmas sweaters this year. It takes hours to transform and pose them, so we’re taking a break from that.

I’ll be back with a message on Christmas morning. I hope you are ready for the holiday, enjoying the decorations, spending time with family and friends. I’m especially thinking of blog readers Chris K., Brenda in Florida, Vicki in California, and Kathy, who is taking care of a family member who is seriously ill. I know they are unable to comment because of illness or commitments elsewhere. Sending love to all of you. If there are more that I’m missing, please let me know.

Much love to you.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

That’s a room with a view…the girls and the Christmas tree! Very cozy! Brrr, sounds cold! It’s early morning here and it’s 60°….lots of rain tomorrow, then dry, hopefully, for Christmas. Stay warm!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! Today is the 18th anniversary of my daughter and son in law’s wedding and 9 years since I lost my brother. Always a day of joy and sadness for me. Still tomorrow I will spend the night with my Grands and be blessed by Christmas morning joy. Tiger is so grown up now at almost 14 and Scout will soon be 10. Enjoying all the moments with them I can. Missing my Mom but I know she, Dad and Richard are together!

The girls look great, as do the dollhouses, your tree, and the rest of your charming home. I have been sick for about a month (!) but am finally getting better. I had a crummy virus that turned into my asthma. I was able to get most everything done however, ordering online and doing things at home when I had energy. I hope you and Don stay well and I wish the merriest of Christmases!!

Happy Christmas, Claudia, Don. Hope the weather doesn’t dampen your enjoyment of this time of year. Get that kettle boiling and even if you don’t drink tea, a mug of hot water will warm your hands wrapped around it. I’ve been drinking lots of tea and milky coffee just to warm my hands, though it’s practically tropical here in the 50’s compared to where you are.

I always cry too, during It’s a Wonderful Life. That’s our .Christmas Eve movie.

The girl’s look so cute in their cubbies….didn’t realize it took so long to redress them. Guess you’ll just have to start earlier next year… lol.

I didn’t realize so many of your blog reader’s are having difficulties this season. I haven’t been reading the comments lately. Blessings and Merry Christmas to all your readers this season!

    Enjoy your day! ;)

These are ongoing difficulties. Some from a year or two ago. I haven’t heard from Brenda, after she became ill, in about 2 years. I worry about her.

      Stay safe.

Merry Christmas from Nebraska. It was 70 degrees yesterday. Crazy! I’ve been making quilts for my grandbabies so I’m missing out on the nice weather.

Merry Christmas, Claudia and Don! Hope that you have a happy and peaceful one. I’m just amazed at your temperatures as I now think in Celsius and have to convert to the Fahrenheit table of my childhood. That’s unbelievably cold to me. Last Winter, I remember waiting at the bus stop to go work and it was -7 C which is about 18F and I thought by this is the coldest that I have ever been! I think that I must be taking Britain’s temperate climate for granted.
Also, sending good wishes to those readers who have been unable to post recently. I did notice that Kathy in Iowa who normally posts most days was missing.

Merry Christmas to you and Don. It’s snowing here now, a wet snow with huge flakes so feels like we’re in a snow globe. All your girls are adorable and I particularly love your little deer figures.

We watched Christmas Carol last night and I discovered online the actor who played Tiny Tim is still alive! He’s 98 years old and lives in Minnesota. This is the only version we watch every year.

    Take care,
    Kay

That would be Terence (Terry) Kilburn, who ran the Meadowbrook Theater in Michigan when I was a teenager/young adult. He was a rather strange adult, according to friends who worked for him. He ran that theater for years.

      Merry Christmas, Kay.

Happy Christmas Claudia and Don. Loved seeing your girls in their Christmas decorated cubbies. I count 20. Is that right? It does take time to dress the dolls. A big part is trying to decide which outfits suit which little lady. And heaven forbid if two of them want the same outfit, lol. Stay safe, warm and cozy. We have our first snowfall and it should last through Christmas. Hugs, Elaine

Merry Christmas to you and Don. I hope you have a wonderful day, and that the new year brings you much love, joy, good health and lots of happiness.
It’s been a year and one month since I lost the love of my life, so this time of year brings so many mixed emotions but I’m so lucky to have my loving family supporting me.
Many blessings to both of you.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
