Command Central

January 18, 2023 at 9:31 am by Claudia

Command Central.

This is my view as I read books, check out instagram, and write this blog. The rabbit pillow is upside down, for some reason. It’s since been repositioned.

The girls are directly in front of me, next to the two steps that lead to our little sunken den.

I love this little room. I spend a great deal of time in it. Don, however, only visits the den in the evening, when we’re eating dinner on a tray and watching whatever we’re watching. He’s rather particular about that. But then again, so am I. The only instance that brings me into the living room to blog or read is when there’s something amiss in the den. Sometimes, after we get a lot of rain, there might be a musty smell for a couple of days because the den is directly over a crawl space. Then I’ll visit the loveseat in the living room. But I’m not entirely comfortable there during the day. We’re both such creatures of habit; increasingly so as we get older.

I returned two books to the library yesterday, did my walking on the property, and promptly took a nap. And I read three chapters of War and Peace (trying to get ahead, since I’ll be back in the city this week) and a big chunk of State of Terror. I suspect I’ll finish that today. It’s really quite gripping! I’m enjoying being in ‘reading mode.’ So grateful to be immersed in all the books I’ve been reading, including W & P, which is simply wonderful.

Gray skies today, rain on the way for tomorrow, which means I’ll be dealing with that in the city. Ah well. Maybe there will be a lull as I’m walking to and from the rehearsal studio.

If I’m not here tomorrow, it’s because I’ve been called into rehearsal.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

what a cozy place to be. :)

and your plants (including the one in yesterday’s sunlit photo) look healthy and happy … full, with peppy leaves and so green!

hope the weather is to your liking, especially on work/travel days and that you travel safe.

glad you’re enjoying books. i’m back to knitting again and am pleased about that.

awaiting up to six inches of snow/rain/ice today. not thrilled about the chance of ice (though we sure need the precipitation), but am ready … groceries and other supplies bought and delivered last night, have a full tank of gas, boots handy, etc. …

best i get going on things. hope everyone has a good and easy, safe day.

    kathy

Oooo Claudia. Amazing how a tiny snippet of this room makes ME feel cozy. Great photo. We have a sunken sunroom I simply adore. We all need a little special place, don’t we. Have a beautiful week.

I love your den, so cozy. We are getting 17″ of snow in Nebraska so I’m home today working on inventory papers for our business. My husband has rolls rising and a roast in the crockpot. It’s a good day!

Oh, and I have the TV off! I can’t be bothered by the stupid political CRAP everyone is so determined to talk about 24/7!!! Can I just ask how the news media is even profitable because everyone I know has stopped watching the news? I don’t understand!

    Enjoy your rest day!

Oh boy! That’s a lot of snow, Darlene.

I don’t know how it’s profitable. Quite frankly, I believe news should be non-profit. It should be a service for all Americans. Profit is where is starts to go wrong.

      Stay safe!

I just love your den! So many have described it as cozy, and I agree! With crazy weather, crazy politics, crazy news…we need cozy! Thanks for sharing!

I love it when I get into a good reading zone. You have a wonderful spot for it — what a nice room that is. I think we are all creatures of habit, the things we do, the times we do them. I suppose it comes for me from years of work routine, and although I haven’t done that for almost ten years, I had to set some sort of “schedule,” (knowing I can always break it for something fun!)

We’re still in the gray, gloomy zone here. I did a little painting yesterday, lunch with two old new friends — people I’ve KNOWN for years but not really known. Delightful, intelligent conversation. This is our third such meeting/lunch and it has been joyful to add new people to my small roster! Reading Rickman, of course, and worrying about Pumpkin the deer, who has a plastic Halloween bucket stuck on his head and so far rescue attempts have failed. All in a day’s life. Happy day to you.

Oh no! Now, I’m worried about Pumpkin! I hope he can be rescued!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
