Proof that though the temperature is all over the place, spring is here. These are the daffodils, planted long ago by another owner, that live on the edge of the woods. There are also daffodils near the shed and up in the woods, as well as some in the big garden bed. But this particular bunch is always the first to come up.
Don’s appointment yesterday went well, though he had a long wait – there were a lot of patients there. Today is – drumroll – grocery pickup. And tomorrow is the day we get our second shots.
Other than that, there’s not a whole lot to say. I’m working on a puzzle that is a challenge. That’s a good thing. I’m still reading Snow. It’s wonderful, and it’s not all that long, but even though I read every day, I usually only find time for it in the early morning and right before I go to bed. I read for the pleasure of reading and I don’t want or need to read quickly. I had to do that when I was constantly reviewing books and eventually I realized that I had lost the exquisite pleasure of a slow read, just for me. The same thing happened when I was crocheting scarves to sell in the Etsy shop. I had to stop. Anyway, that is why I deleted my reading blog and very rarely review books here. I’m happy to unofficially pass along interesting reads and I do, but reviewing? Only on rare occasions.
I picked up some mail from the post office box the other day. Both Kathy and Kate sent me interesting articles they had saved for me and there was also a box from Kathy. Poor Kathy – she sent it to me in January, but as I said the other day, our little post office is the size of a large walk-in closet, therefore we rarely go there in times of COVID, unless we know there is something waiting for us.
Here’s what she sent me:
A necklace with monarch chrysalises, the green version and the just-about-to-emerge version. Aren’t they lovely? Thank you so much, Kathy! I love them. I sent you a thank you email a few days ago, but I don’t know if you ever received it. They’re such a lovely surprise and a beautiful symbol of an experience we’ll never forget.
Stay safe.
Happy Tuesday.

hej, claudia.
too bad about the wait and busyness, but glad don’s shot itself went well.
i trust today’s grocery run and tomorrow’s vaccinations will go well for you both, too.
glad the package arrived and has been received! i sure understand and am glad when people avoid crowded places.
the person who made the chrysalis called them pendants for a necklace and sent the chain and the green chrysalis for free. i envisioned the one i bought (the black and orange emerging one) as perhaps a Christmas tree ornament or everyday house ornament … hung in a window perhaps … that could remind you and don of your time with and kind help to emby. hope you enjoy it.
i did get your email; thanks. i don’t often check it or have time to respond as i don’t have a computer at home and email and my phone don’t often connect well … so i read emails quickly at work when i can (not often).
bittersweet day here so have the day off. plenty of sunshine this morning so i could sew, but i am not feeling it right now and am taking it easy as possible.
hope you have a good day. stay safe!

kathy, hope your day today is getting better as the hours go by; such interesting pendants for Claudia, really unique; just wanted to say, too, that I enjoyed hearing about your sewing in the other post/comments (thanx for letting me know, since I’d asked); it’s great that you know how to quilt; I remember when Claudia was doing hand-quilting a few years back … you talented ladies, both of you! … I have this copied down, from ‘ancient’-times Irish author Thomas Moore but coming to me via the artist/writer Susan Branch: “The ‘ordinary’ arts we practice everyday at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.” (But simplicity doesn’t necessarily mean simple; I think that sewing, of the aforesaid ordinary arts/home arts is intricate work, requiring amazing skill!)

hej, vicki …
love the quote; thanks for sharing it.
i agree with those words and try to do something creative every day … not because it’s good for me and helps get some balance in my day (even if it’s ten minutes before i fall asleep), but i paint, sew, write, knit etc. solely because i enjoy it. :)
with your house projects, you might not have time, but i hope you do get time to do whatever creative thing is calling you. i’m sure you’d do a great job and hopefully enjoy it, too!
hope you’re doing well.
stay safe!
