Day Three Hundred Fifty-Eight

March 6, 2021 at 10:32 am by Claudia

It’s cold here! Two more days of this stuff and then the warming begins. At least two days of near 60 degrees are predicted and I’m very happy about that.

I straightened up the studio; though if you walked in the door, you might think I hadn’t done anything of the sort. But I assure you, I have. While I was up there, I added the putz sheep from Helga to the herd already living on the mantel/shelf. It’s hard to get a good photo (I’m going to try again later today with my big girl camera) but this is better than nothing.

I have 20 putz sheep now. The two at the far right are adorable, but they’re not putz sheep. I took photos of exactly where Helga’s sheep are in this mix, so I don’t forget. I’m tempted to find some way to mark them – hidden, of course – because unlike so many things I collect, I can’t remember where and when I found most of these sheep. I remember the details of a few, especially The Lamb with the Party Hat, the symbol of this blog. I found her in Orange, California, when I was back in San Diego to coach the Summer Shakespeare Festival about 11 years ago. And the large sheep with the hat and the pack was a gift from Lori, the owner of Vignettes in Ocean Beach.

I’d love to have scads more. Fingers crossed. The one time during this pandemic that I actually went into a store other than the grocery store was in December when my friend Sydney dropped off two sheep (she has been the source of many members of my herd) and left it at the front desk of one of my favorite antique shops. I was in and out of there in a flash! I suppose I’d only do that sort of thing for sheep and dollhouses – at least, for the time being.

Finished puzzle dismantled. New one started:

It will eventually look like this:

I’ve started A Chelsea Concerto, a nonfiction book about living in Chelsea, London during the Blitz. It was recommended by one of my favorite book bloggers, Miranda Mills. I’m really enjoying it. The series we’re watching, A French Village, is all about life in a French village that is occupied by the Nazis. I seem to be immersed in WWII these days.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

The sheep have found their flock!
The New Yorker puzzles are really eye catching. Any of them would look great if you wanted to frame and hang one.
I am procrastinating painting a spare bedroom this morning…must get to it.
    Have a good day.

Glad you are feeling well after your 1st dose. Do you keep all of your puzzles and save them to put together again in the future?

I gave some to Rick and Doug last summer. I keep the rest, but the reality is that I won’t put them together again. So I may donate them after all of this is over.

      Stay safe, Ellen.

It’ s so nice to see the German sheep go with the flock on your mantle shelf. I hope they like the German invasion. The shelf looks good, by the way. Nice colour, nice decor, does it for a while.
I couldn’t stop collecting sheep either, I have 80 ! One could never have enough sheep (and rams).
I have three Skuddenrams in real live. They are such adorable little personalities, so lovely, so handsome, so humble, so perfect. Sheep are an ancient breed and easy to hold. I will be in love forever. I’m a sheperdess now (never thought I would be).
Putz sheep are not easy to find and they get more and more pricey here in Germany too. That makes them even more precious. I can’t wait for the opening of antique markets and shops and dollhouse fairs…
Book shops and flower markets may open from Monday, hope it will stay that way for a while.

Thank you for showing me the sheep are safe, remember, you are a kind of shepherdess too.
    Stay safe
    Helga

I’d like to find some sort of protection for the front of the shelf, so that the sheep stay there if jostled and don’t fall on the desk. Maybe some plexiglass?

I love your rams – I’ve seen photos of them and they’re adorable. I can’t wait to get out there and search for more putz sheep and everything else I collect!

Thank you my friend. My heart is full.

      Stay safe.

Oh, my! The sheep are so precious!! I have loved all of them as you have added to your collection over the years. These are just amazing. Helga is a wonderful friend!!

We are into the upper 40’s today (motorcycles are out and about) and to be in the mid to upper 50’s and then the 60’s by Tuesday. Can’t wait! Winters are always long, but this one has been just awful when you add in the quarentining….. we all need some nicer weather to just make us feel better. Hope you are enjoying your day. Take care.

Still in the thirties today, but as of tomorrow, higher temps! I can’t wait. I’ll get spring fever, I know.

      Stay safe, Chris.

oh, the sheep are right at home! they are home! very nice gift from helga.

and that puzzle … love all the details, especially the people’s faces. have fun!

glad you have some spring-y weather on the way. we have it here … beautiful and much needed. my winter coat has been washed and put away … hooray! :)

with my back, i haven’t been able to do much cleaning beyond the daily dishes, keeping up with the mail and what i call “invisible cleaning” … organizing drawers … stuff seen by no one but me. it’s not much, but still feels good to get something done.

will learn more probably on monday, but i might start physical therapy next week. that is simultaneously exciting and scary for me. been a long four months.

in the meantime, some fabric has arrived and been washed and i hope to sew with it tomorrow.

hope you are in the middle of a nice weekend.

It must feel enormously gratifying to feel like you’re getting something done, even if you’re restricted.

I’m glad to hear that physical therapy might be ahead for you!

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
