Day Three Hundred Seventy-Four

March 22, 2021 at 9:56 am by Claudia

Current puzzle. I know I said it was dark and moody and it is. The left hand side is where the lamplight casts its glow in this apartment. The other half is very dark, which is why I’ve worked on the more colorful sections first. They’re just easier to complete.

Gosh, I love a good jigsaw puzzle!

Sunny and warm (relatively) again today. We were going to take a drive but Don has a commitment at 3:30 and, quite frankly, we’re feeling lazy. We’re excited that we can finally say that our second shot is next week. On Monday, Don gets his shot from his eye specialist and on Wednesday, we both get our second dose of the vaccine. By the way, someone (sorry, I can’t remember who it was) mentioned that we should make sure that getting another shot around the same time as our vaccine shot is okay. Don called his eye doctor who quickly said this kind of shot has no impact on the vaccine and the vaccine has no impact on it. So, we’re fine.

We had a great FaceTime chat with Little Z and my sister yesterday. Z is into zombies at the moment, so we learned a great deal about them. Z illustrated the sounds that come from baby zombies and adult zombies and we also learned they like to chase chickens. I mentioned to him that my neighbor has chickens and we imagined what it would be like to try to chase the zombies away from the chickens. He also got to ride an elevator in the parking garage next to his doctor – as you know, Z is obsessed with elevators and COVID has kept him from exploring different elevators every weekend. He’s missed that.

I just finished The Sentence is Death  by Anthony Horowitz – he’s so darned clever! Now I have to choose my next book. I certainly have a lot of them to choose from in my TBR pile. I’m leaning toward a mystery by John Banville – a new-to-me writer. His mysteries take place in Ireland. I think I first heard about this book, Snow, through The Mysterious Bookshop’s newsletter.

Oh, I can’t wait until the day I can visit the city again, if only to visit The Mysterious Bookshop and Tiny Doll House – two shops that are on opposite ends of Manhattan – one in Tribeca, the other on the Upper East Side.

I’m off to do a little work on the puzzle.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

I chuckled at the zombie sounds. I have never considered baby zombies! But then, my zombie knowledge is nonexistent.
What delightful conversations you have with him.
I had my second vaccine Sat. and not one side effect. I am glad you two will soon be at that point as well.
Enjoy the hope of spring, it’s really lovely to have hope.

So good to hear that you had no side effects. It seems to be a bit of a crap shoot. Lots of people I know had them, but others had very little problem.

      Stay safe, Jan!

It would be fun to hear Zombie sounds…especially from Little Z!

I’m glad you have another challenge…that puzzle looks very difficult. Especially the darker side…so many monotone pieces.

Rain is promised for later today, tomorrow and Wednesday. That should rinse away a lot of the sand and salt that seems to be everywhere. I was going to cut the dead flowers off the hydrangeas, but I think I’ll wait until after the rains. I feel like tackling some inside jobs today.

    Happy puzzling….and stay safe! ;)

      Thanks, Donna!

I’ve finished most of the brighter, lighter colors and now I’m headed to the dark side. But not today. My eyes are tired. I’ll get to it tomorrow.

      Stay safe!

I’d wondered if you were indeed just ‘itching’ to get back to The Big City which would probably feel great to do before summer (when the weather gets, from what I understand, somewhat stifling with heat and humidity); just always remember reading that NYC is so beautiful in Spring and Fall.

If I’m just going in for the day, humidity isn’t a big deal. If I was on vacation and staying in NYC, I’d pick the Fall.

      Stay safe, Vicki!

I got into puzzles this winter as well. Susan Branch has a bookish puzzle that I adored so much, I glued it together, framed it and hung it in my office at work. It’s adorable. A co-worker just gave me another “bookish” puzzle to put together. I am looking forward to it. Yes, we just got our first shots last Thursday, so our next one is tax day, April 15th. I will so be glad when May is here……

I think the IRS has delayed tax day until May 17th. So if you’re frantic, you have a bit more time!

      Stay safe, Mamey.

Bureaucratic stuff that comes along with a move is always a pain. I hope you get it ironed out soon, Brenda.

      Enjoy your family.

I love jigsaw puzzles too and almost always have one going. The one I am working on now is an old 1000 piece puzzle by “Guild”. The next one is a 1500 piece one that is the blood moon over land marks in 4 different countries i.e. Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty. Can’t wait to get started though my friend who passed it on to me said the dark parts are a challenge.

We got our second shots last Thursday. My husband had few side effects; I still feel bum today though it wasn’t all that bad. Just glad to have had both of them.

      Stay safe, Joyce!

thanks to you and little z for sharing zombie information. it’s always good to learn something every day! :)

i can tell i will like this puzzle, too. good luck with the dark, moody parts and your back (in case you’re sitting as i would be … kind of hunched over and wishing for a lamp with a higher watt bulb to keep me from squinting at those tiny pieces).

thankfully there will be days ahead for drives and visits to favorite stores and other places. can’t come too soon!

been a long day and tomorrow will be busy helping people register for their vaccinations … i think i might have eleven appointments back-to-back without a break. happy to help, happy for them to get vaccines … and need my own so i can spend more time with my family!

hope you’re all having a nice night and stay safe.

      Absolutely hunched over!

You do have a long day ahead! I sure hope you can get your first shot soon, Kathy!

I would think because you’re providing an essential service that you would be eligible.

      Stay safe!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
