Day Three Hundred Sixty-Five

March 13, 2021 at 10:18 am by Claudia

A year.

There’s not much to say about the year as I’ve been talking about it every day, all year long. I’m glad we made it through. We will continue to try to handle it with grace and cheer. At times, that’s not so easy, but most of the time it is.

Knowing that we’re all being vaccinated, or will soon be vaccinated, certainly helps.

And spring being just around the corner helps, too.

Bless you all.

Spring, Easter, egg cups. Here are a few of my wee little treasures. The one on the left, third row down, was given to me by my godparents when I was a child.

They’re all dear to me, but the vintage Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs set was gathered one by one over the course of several years. A true prize. There was a time when these cups went for hundreds of dollars each – I remember it, as they were still very pricey when I first started collecting egg cups. My friend Nels has the entire set and he paid much more than I did.

I still watch for them on eBay, mostly out of curiosity. Just the other day a Sneezy came up for auction.

And now that I’ve written this I will be, like clockwork, checking out the egg cups for sale on eBay. I don’t buy them all that often these days, but I do pick one up now and then. Vintage, of course. Figurals, which are my favorites and the reason I started collecting, are still out there but not in the range they once were. Some of my favorites, found when I first started collecting in 2002, are rarely seen these days.

I’ll share more of my babies over the next two weeks.

Sunny today but colder. We had very high winds all night long and they left me feeling edgy as the winds pounded the house outside our bedroom. More are due tomorrow. I wish they’d just stop – we’ve had a lot of high winds over the past year or so.

Just about to finish A Chelsea Concerto. I must say it’s been a riveting read but I’ll be glad to have a break from the Blitz. I think a mystery will be next; I need the change of pace.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

I’m okay when spring arrives. I’m still unsure about the vaccination. Anyway, the old people are first.

Spring seems to be out of reach as we are expecting some snow tonight. That’s why I’m watchting the change of weather looking out of the window at my desk, hoping the weather forecast may be wrong. ;-)
The sky has turned into gray completely. Still I can spot some spring flowers in my tiny garden. Living in the countryside makes it easier, that’s for sure.

And Counting the blessings helps a lot to get through hard times although I am really tired.

    All the best!

I guess I’m one of the ‘old people!’

No spring flowers here yet, not even a hint of them, but then we don’t see them for a few more weeks at the very least.

      Stay safe, Regula!

A year. It seems much longer to me. Your blog definitely helped me through it, especially our shared angst about OM.
Gosh, it’s so nice not to have him in the forefront of my thoughts every day.

Your egg cup collection is wonderful and fun to see.
I love the cabinet, it really shows them off.
I am hopeful that life is going to get more normal this year. I just got tickets to our local theater for Sister Act. They are performing as a drive-in theater. We will park, sit in our car, and tune in the radio to hear it while we watch them on stage. Very creative.
    Have a great day!

Your egg cup collection is a treasure!

I’m glad that the vaccine is available but I’m having trouble getting an appointment. I will persevere in my daily search. My son is getting vaccinated today through his job and my daughter will get her first shot on Tuesday, also through her work. Maybe I shouldn’t have retired!
Anyway I want to say that I really like your egg cup collection. My favorite is the little house.

      Thank you Cristina!

Hang in there, we tried for weeks before we go an appointment. I think it will all accelerate now, especially since Biden wants everyone to have their first shot by May 1st.

      Stay safe.

love your list (and egg cups and that perfect cupboard).

here’s part of my list … vaccines for two of my family so far and other people, too, spring (weather, flower and tree buds, baby animals, not worrying about ice and snow, being able to walk outside …), fabric in colorful cheery patterns to make new pillows, a referral has been made so i can start physical therapy for my back soon, friends like you and especially my family and God.

hope you have a good day!

It’s staggering to see the number 365. And when it is combined with the number of US deaths, it becomes incomprehensible. I’m grateful for everything you share here, all of which, the upsetting and the calm, has been a balm to me during the past 365 days. Yesterday, I was able to meet with the members of my book group, all of us together for the first time in a year, almost to the day. They’ve all experienced losses, work issues, illnesses, relationship problems, and missing family members in one form or another, but we are all still here, and it was a beautiful day to sit outside and share our favorite beverages. It almost felt like normal, except we were spaced far apart and some of us kept our masks on. But “almost” felt very good. XO

I knew we were inching up to 365…but to see it in print? Very hard to believe. Thank goodness for like minded souls such as yourself, and your readers…you have gotten me through this year.

It is always a delight to see your egg cups. So many different ones…it always sparks my interest for a time. So I spend a decent amount of time on Etsy searching them out, and always come to the same conclusion. I will admire yours from afar!

Beautiful day here, too…think we might wash the car. It’s going to be 58 after all. Stay safe! ;)

One year! WOW! I do love seeing your egg cups. I haven’t added to my collection in a long while in fact I downsized. Keeping my favorites. Time to bring them out for a bit. Spring is here and making me smile. Hugs!

Spring is here and we lose an hour tonight for Daylight Savings Time. Wish they’d just keep DST all year round!

      Stay safe, Linda.

I love seeing your egg cups every year. I will get my meager few out sometime next week.

As Donnamae said, it is supposed to be near 60* today. Then some of the “s” word tomorrow into Monday. Yeah, reality returns. Have a good day, and take care.

      Stay safe, Chris.

I always eagerly anticipate your egg cup posts!

It HAS been a year, hasn’t it. Well, we’ve done the best we can with it and we’re still here, so I say three cheers to that. When it comes to counting blessings, I have too many to count — and that’s a good thing.

I love to see your egg cups as we approach Easter. It’s a marvelous collection.

Don’t envy you with those winds; I’m no stranger to wind in SoCalif and I don’t like them either.

It did hit me the other day that most everybody I know in my small circle of friends and relatives is already vaccinated (the over 65s), which is a relief, to have some protection from the virus (when, for a year, we’ve felt helpless against it); I mean, they’ve at least had a first dose, with the second to come. I can remember when we never thought we’d get to this point.

Took a short drive this afternoon to see snow on our local mountain range. Feeling very lucky to have some snowpack this late, in March. Will really help out with heat and drought, all too soon come summer/fall (sometimes as early as late April; I don’t like seeing that thermometer ratch up with higher temps!). We had a surprising number of showers yesterday afternoon and evening, with thunder (the rain chance had been a low percentage; so, it was a gift!).

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
