I briefly considered ignoring my egg cups during this Easter season, but I relented yesterday afternoon. I’m sharing a group of them every day via Stories on Instagram. I try to change it up each year. But, some of you don’t follow IG, so here is the first group – just for you.
Gosh, the plus of the blog is that they’re so much easier to see.

It’s fun to share these every year. I have a lot of cups in the cubbie, but I also have several that are scattered throughout the house. I’ll post the second installment today on IG.
Here we are at the beginning of another week; day 23 for me. On the whole, I’m getting used to it but I do have days where I want to let out a little scream of frustration. However, it goes away quickly when I give myself a stern talking to. We’re all sacrificing – at least most of us are. I still see a lot of activity coming from some of my neighbors, who seem to remain a bit clueless.
We needed some over-the-counter medicines, and we didn’t want to go in the grocery store, so we called our local pharmacy. They have curbside pickup. Don told me it was quite efficient. He called them and placed his order. When he arrived there, he dialed the number again and then put in a code. While he was waiting, he took a box out of his car and placed his credit card inside and then placed it on the hood. The employee came out with a mask and gloves, took the card, went inside and ran it, came back outside and left a bag in that same box (the card was inside the bag.) Don sanitized the card, drove home, and then sanitized the meds on the porch. I love that essential services are coming up with ingenious ways to serve their customers – protecting both themselves and the customers. Thank goodness for them.
It’s cloudy today, but no rain is in sight and we’re going to reach 65 degrees! Lovely. At some point, we’ll have to go to our storage facility to retrieve the Adirondack chairs and porch cushions. We should be able to do that without encountering anyone – we’ll be armed with disinfecting wipes, of course.
I’ve started This Rough Magic by Mary Stewart. And we watched Manhattan last night – shot in black and white, gorgeous cinematography, and a Gershwin (my favorite) score. Couldn’t be better.

Oh yes…the egg cups! I never tire of seeing them. I have my favorites, besides the 7 dwarfs. I don’t remember…do you have a favorite?
Yes…Wiping down everything is our new reality. I had a doctor appointment on Friday. I was screened, and asked the same questions by 4 different nurses. My doctor wore a shield…she said it was hot, but does offer protection. And they needed to stay protected, in case they were called up to the front lines in the hospital. A sobering thought. But, I was glad they were taking protections not only for their health, but for mine.

This new reality is getting tiring, but as they say in Britain, “Needs must!” Stay safe.
It is such a pretty day today. Sunny and near 60*. I think we are supposed to see 70* this week. Just being able to go and sit outside for a bit is exhilarating! Palm Sunday and Holy Week. It seems, in my mind, that this all sort of started around Ash Wed w the end of Mardi Gras and now we are on the eve of Easter. Quite a Lenten statement, I guess. I remember giving up chocolate or cookies when I was young and how hard I thought that was. Puts things into perspective, I think.

the egg cups are so unique in their styles yet serve the same purpose … neat to see the ideas and creativity people had when making them. and that cupboard is perfect for your egg cups! thanks for sharing.
oh … have you ever counted how many egg cups you have?
i agree … am glad stores are taking more precautions for everyone’s sakes and offering delivery and curbside pick-up options. our big local (chain) grocery store has someone sanitizing handles before giving carts to customers, clearly marked aisles as “one way”, put big signs on the floor for where to stand in line to be social-distancing, cashiers sanitize the conveyer belt and payment thing between customers, have plexiglass shields at the cash registers, special shopping hours for older adults, etc.

I’ve been knitting and watching plays/musicals on broadwayhd.com and National Theater, and TV programs on Acorn. During this isolation period, these sites are offering some free services.
I don’t really move them around. Occasionally, but rarely. They’re fixed in place with some tacky wax.

Oh, yes, so glad to see your egg cups here. I have issues with Instagram sometimes if there’s too much copy. Especially if I’m looking on my phone. Love looking at them.
Gorgeous sunny day here, if a bit too cool yet. We took a long drive and it was so good to be away from the neighborhood and out of the house for a period of hours. We noticed all the restaurants with their long lines of cars at their take-out windows. I don’t think I’d have the patience. These past three weeks is the longest time we’ve gone without going out to eat. But I guess we’ll survive ;-)

I just wanted to say thank you for continuing your daily blog posting. It just adds a little normalcy to my day. I get up, make my breakfast and settle in to read my blogs. It’s so comforting to have yours pop up like all is right with the world.
I’m glad you and Don are staying put and staying safe. My husband went out to start his truck and it’s been so long since he has driven it that the battery was dead!

We went to our offsite storage facility on Thurs and never encountered a soul; the office was closed but you could still get in via keypad gate. We disinfected the keypad, checked on our stuff (haven’t been there since probably November), disinfected the keypad again to let ourselves out.
At the pharmacy, we had partially set up an account online for home delivery of our drugs; we did my husband’s but not mine as in just a span of a day or so, the 800-number call center closed up. But we were able to carry it thru (for mine) with the local pharmacy branch who holds our credit card number in an account, they let us know when our refills come up, I call and tell them we want home delivery, they package it up and charge my acct with the credit card number we’d given them, and then the local pharmacy sends the drugs to our home via USPS. So, we never have to get out/leave home. There’s a lot of talk that the USPS could be in deep trouble by June (they have a lot of sick workers I guess) and this would be disastrous for people in especially rural areas who depend on the post office to get their essential supplies, just like these mail-order prescription drug services, so that could sure screw up how my husband and I are now getting our medicines, but I still can’t believe the postal service would shut down; the feds will have to do something before that happens although it feels like the country’s coffers are at the limit.
Egg cups are smiley and cheerful today.
I think the USPS will be just fine. There’s a lot of panic-driven click bait out there in the world. I tend to ignore all the hype.
