Day Two Hundred Ninety-Nine

January 6, 2021 at 10:09 am by Claudia

Georgia has done it.

I know that Ossoff’s win hasn’t been officially called yet, but it’s just a matter of time.

Oh my heavens!!

We stayed up too late, way too late, and we were up early this morning, so I fully expect some afternoon naps will be on the docket. But it was worth it.

I feel my shoulders dropping. Yes, I know the crapshow (I use a different word here in the house, but I’m trying to be somewhat circumspect here on the blog) will go on today. Don is going to watch it, but my feeling is that these soulless seditionists don’t merit any of my attention today. Or any day.

Better, so much better, days are ahead, my friends. And two weeks from today, Biden will be inaugurated.

Okay.

The miniature beds arrived yesterday and all I can say is: adorable.

This is the larger of the two – double bed size. They’re made out of brass and copper. They come from TinyIronMiniatures on Etsy – based in Montana.

Here is the other bed:

Closer to twin bed size. That’s why I ordered it. I’m thinking I can somehow get it in the tiny bedroom of the antique dollhouse in the den. Although the bed for the English dollhouse is bigger than I expected, but it just goes to show that the bedroom in that little cottage is just plain tiny! I’ll figure out placement. I need to get some sort of wardrobe and smallish chair and then it will all make sense. I also need to find some vintage white or cream hankies on Etsy because I used to have a lot of them and I think they all disappeared in one of my closet purges. The hankies will be the linens on the bed.

I’m really thrilled by the craftsmanship from Tiny Iron Miniatures.

By the way, I bought a turntable for the house on top of the china cabinet in the den and it has been a game changer. I can easily turn it around to work on the interior. That is a very heavy handmade house and the last time I tried to move it off the cabinet to work on it, I threw out my back.

I’m awfully tired today but I think I’ll spackle some of the cracks in the bathroom walls and get it prepped for wallpapering. I’m still waiting on that delivery.

Okay.

Celebrate!

And stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

Some friendly advice, Brenda – stop reading blogs that are negative. It’s not worth your energy or time.

Stay safe, my friend. Better days are here.

I did that in November, Claudia…these two surprised me as they have NEVER mentioned politics…they are now deleted. Also, I have to chuckle…in 2016, God made a decision for this country-those people say…but in 2020, it is not God…go figure that one…really makes me sick to my stomach when they switch like this…the father of my children worked in the government-we were together 30 years, and when Dems were in power, better life…when R, not so much..enough said…take care little one.

I would go outside and do a happy dance but it’s too icy here! The beds will look perfect. I’m anxious for you to start the Beacon Hill. I always wanted a dollhouse as a child. I bought each of my granddaughters a kid type play dollhouse. I’ve been doing a little pricing of houses online…maybe it’s my time to fulfill that desire. Not sure. I have a knitting hobby that takes up alot of my time and $$.
In the meantime, I will enjoy your fun with you.

Such good news, though I still don’t understand your vote-system (don’t have to do it anyway).
The iron-bed is stunning, I was on her etsyside and fall in love with the Aspen, there are various finishes available. Delivery to Germany has its problem with VAT and delivery times. I wait until
Mr. Biden makes new (old) deals with Germany.
Turntables for dollhouses are very practical, or wheels under the tablestand with stops, so they don’t turn when you are working on them. I’m thinking of your Beacon Hill. Stay safe!

lovely beds! I’ve spent a good part of today tearing up. don’t know if it’s relief or exhaustion. I’m worried that people will be injured in dc today, or worse, so that also makes me sad. too many emotions. thanks to you and don for the work you did to promote positive change and thanks to stacey abrams who would not quit.

and I am so ready to be rid of McConnell. everyone talks about Trump. and he’s been the WORST.
but McConnell went about undermining EVERYTHING. now perhaps we have a chance in HELPING the planet and mankind. one can hope anyway.
and OH! those tiny bedframes!!! they perfect. I wish I had a real one in my own bedroom.
    they are so beautiful.
XO take a wonderful reviving nap!

Oh, Happy Day!! HOW LONG have we been waiting/ anticipating until or when we could actually tear up in pure joy?? One more step remains today. Just heard Merrick Garland will be nominated for AG. He will finally get his vote. Karma is a really beautiful thing to behold. (Not to diminish the importance of all of the blood, sweat and tears that went into the miles and miles walked and doors knocked upon in GA over the past 2 months).

Those beds are so pretty. I would love our sweet granddaughter to have one like that when she is ready for a big girl bed. Amazing work these craftspeople do!!

We need naps today, too. Up waaaayy too late last night and muchtoo early this AM, also. But it was oh-so worth it! Take care!!!!

Claudia, if you haven’t watched, perhaps Don told you…….but according to the a-holes orders, his followers have gotten into the Capital and they are locking down the Congress-people.
Fricking unbelievable. How in the world were they so unprepared????????????????????????????

I love those little beds. There is so much detail in them,
My advise, turn off the TV and enjoy your beautiful cocoon of a house. There is nobody rioting out side so just forget the bad news. Take care- Elaine in Luray Va.

I am in shock — not surprise but shock tonight. DC — makes me sick.

I’m so glad I can look at your pretty little beds and get a smile. What a wonderful find. And the lazy susan turntable is a great idea. Inspired!

    What a day!

Thank heavens for Georgia! Once the AP certified Osshoff’s win, I took a deep breath. Regaining the Senate–huge!

What a shameful scene in the nation’s capital. How low can 45 drag our country? Never would any of us have thought our democracy could have come to this. Perhaps there will be a silver lining if some of 45’s voters say “enough” and stand up for democracy, for a change.

    May everyone righteous stay safe.

I am coming late to leave this comment. First, Yay Georgia did it. We elected two Democrats and I could not be happier. Then I watch and I see the attack on the Capital and I am beyond angry and appalled. This must be the end of this man, We are not safe while he is in the white house.

He needs to removed from office immediately! Good God, he is still encouraging his supporters. Behind bars, in solitary confinement would be a good start.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
