Day Two Hundred Twenty Four

October 23, 2020 at 9:03 am by Claudia

A package arrived yesterday from Sarah at Landau House.

A set with Art Nouveau covers.

Vintage classics.

Agatha Christie.

An illustrated (on the inside pages as well as the cover) Sleeping Beauty,  and a gift from Sarah – Persuasion  by Jane Austen.

Her books are beautifully done. I’ve had some problems with mini books in the past – too big, too awkward, out of scale. These are perfect.

I quickly put them in the bookcase so I could see them all together:

It’s fiddly work, getting them all in there. I have lots more to go, but every time I add something new, I get excited.

I’m starting to want to live in this little space. I would also like this piece of furniture in my real house, please.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

    Hello,

I adore the illustrations on the Agatha Christie books. I like visiting your miniature world. I find it hopeful and restful, for some reason.

    Best Wishes for today,

Lots of great books…wonderful bookcase. Don’t laugh….but, I have to ask….are the pages inside the book printed or blank? I mean, the books look so authentic. So, who knows?

An aside…just saw our first red bellied woodpecker at our suet feeder. And, so it begins! Stay safe! ;)

Most are blank, some are printed.

      Love the woodpecker sighting, Donna!

      Stay safe.

Oh my goodness, those miniature books are wonderful. I especially like the miniature Agatha Christie novels.

I liked your post on IG about books – so true! When my daughter and I were waiting for our new home to be ready, we were living In a rented apartment surrounded by cartons of our belongings as it seemed silly to unpack only to have to repack a few weeks later. It was only a month, but when we settled into our new home and began to unbox our books it felt like greeting dear friends. Silly, I know, but we ‘re both avid readers and book collectors.

I totally agree. One of the first things I unpack – besides kitchen stuff – are my books. The house isn’t a home without them.

      Stay safe, Barbara.

Amazing books!! I would like to move into one of your houses for the next 2 weeks. Would Caroline be interested in a bit of B&B to get us through these last days? I know how busy she is, but we would be a self-reliant group of guests!!

We had 6.4 inches of rain yesterday & last night. Just crazy. Lots of flooding. None of it surprises me any longer. Every day unleashes a whole new slew of horrors. I hope your Friday is a good one. Take care!!

That’s a whole lot of rain, Chris. My goodness!

      Stay safe.

Gracious! These are not only perfect but beautiful. Having the decor really is the fun part of dollhouses for me. They give personality to a room. That bookcase is a design I’d like in people size, too, if I had space for it. Glad you got a treat today.

This is so funny! I was anticipating being laid up, as I mentioned, so I put away from miniatures for a while. Several little packages arrived, but I decided to keep them safely wrapped until I could work again. Just yesterday, I decided it would cheer me up, as my surgery was postponed, to start to work again, and to my surprise I found that I had ordered not one but TWO sets from Sarah in 1/24. LOL. I adore them. I couldn’t wait to unwrap the lovely bookcase and place them just so. Also, I bought 3 teeny tiny Van Gogh “prints” that I can’t wait to frame (somehow!). Her work is wonderful. Sometimes, losing my memory is a gift. Stay well! (I’m reading the new Cormoran (?) Strike and while I love the characters, there are a LOT of them in this book, so I’m finding it a bit hard to remember who is who. But I like the curious elements of the plot.). Thank you for the inspiration in all ares!

Oh yay! I already want to order more!

Didn’t know your surgery had been postponed. Prescription: play with minis!

          Stay safe, Nora.

Oh! My! Gosh! I don’t do miniatures, so every time you post them I fall a bit more in love with the doll houses. And today the books! I am a bookaphile, ( is that a word?) and I have fallen the rest of the way in love with your doll houses! I do have a doll house sitting down in the basement that was my daughter’s when she was little and I have thought of working on it. Just have never gotten around to it. When I do get started I will work on a bookcase with books first. Then an overstuffed chair, ottoman, reading lamp, fireplace…….. Now I know how you have gotten where you are! LOL

Exquisite. I especially love the Agatha Christies! These are such fun and so beautiful — and they look fabulous on your shelf.

I thought Kristen Welker rocked the debate moderation — I didn’t envy her task. I don’t think it changed many minds, but maybe some.

The books are so beautiful. I love that bookcase is something I would love to own. Happy you enjoyed your books. I’ve had a bit of a rough day. Last nights Liar Liar and then today the huge co-pay for my osteo meds has me spinning. I’ll be ok and it will all work out is what I tell myself. It’s how I survive. Hugs!

If I didn’t read the post closely, I’d think that last photo was of a full-sized book case! It all looks so normal sized to me!

When I’m working on miniatures, I sometimes find myself looking at IG and thinking the houses/rooms are miniatures and I have to remind myself that they’re life-sized.

      Stay safe, Ellen!

The tiny books are wonderful. A few years ago we bought the full set of Agatha Christie vintage cover novels for the library where I work so I definitely recognise the ones in your collection!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
