We got about 2 inches of snow and it’s quite lovely out there! Tonight and tomorrow will have lows in the single digits so I’m hoping the snow lasts through Christmas. Fingers crossed.
An interesting thing happened yesterday. I got a call from the USPS. My first thought was that it was a scam, but for some reason, I picked it up and it was a woman named Melanie from Customer Care in Albany, checking on the package from Spain that I had been tracking. I told her it had arrived but that I was checking on another delivery (the Etsy sale) and she started tracking it on the phone. She checked all the little details that we don’t see and said she thought she saw some movement and that she would get back to me on Monday. We had a quite a long conversation and she was really helpful. Sure enough, the package moved from Grand Rapids, MI to Richmond, VA later in the day. All in all, a very satisfying experience!
A little tour of some ‘small’ Christmas decorations:
The putz house village. When it’s sunny, the light comes through the windows of the houses – many of them look like stained glass.
The vintage Lake House. If you look closely, you can see the tree in the window.
There it is.
A glittery gold tree inside the entrance to the other vintage dollhouse.
And Santa arriving with a beautiful wreath.
I love these little touches, things that I know about, but no one else does. I doubt whether Don has noticed this Santa yet, but he will.
Whoops! I forgot about Hummingbird Cottage! (I’ve already shown you Dove Cottage, though I had to check back through my posts to verify that.)
The tree is always placed upstairs in the den.
A little tree in the bedroom.
And one by the front door.
A wreath on the newel post.
And the tree through the window.
The decorations in my real life house are kept to a minimum – the tree, the putz houses, a few little vintage treasures here and there. The rest of the decorations are in the miniatures. And that includes the doll cubbies, which I’ll share with you on Monday,
Tonight, The Shop Around the Corner, and on Sunday, It’s a Wonderful Life.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

How charming. Your decorations give me a bit of Christmas joy.
I have a village that I haven’t put up in years. I should have done miniatures like you did.
Enjoy the snow. We are having a bit of cool weather so I am loving it.
Merry Christmas

I bet you are!
Stay safe, Kay.

I have only talked to USPS when I have called them. Had you called about the Spain package and this was a return call? If not, my thoughts are that Melanie reads your blog. Enjoyed looking at the miniatures. The snow outside looks lovely.
Claudia says
She doesn’t read my blog. But I initiated an official inquiry. This is the first time someone – other than my local post office supervisor – has called me.
Stay safe, Olivia.

Your houses look wonderful! Just the right amount of decorations. Cozy and charming are the words I would use.
We have almost identical clocks. The glass cover over the face of mine broke off. I find the tick-tock sound comforting.
Have a peaceful weekend and Thank You for sharing.

Thank you so much, Kaye.

It’s so fun to see your dollhouses with all the Christmas decorations! Santa looks great at the front door! That must have been a surprise to get the call from the USPS…nice to know they’re helping. We’re expecting rain around here and have had really gray days. Your snow sounds pretty, but cold. Stay warm!
Claudia says
Very cold!
Thanks, Barrie.
Stay safe.

Thank you, Ellen.

I do love your dollhouses all decorated….they look perfect. I don’t decorate as much as I used to, and I’ve given away many Christmas related things. It’s a lot of work…and if I do too much, the house just looks cluttered. It gives me a claustrophobic feeling.
Happy Winter Solstice! ;)
Claudia says
Same here. And we live in a very small space, and it can become claustrophobic very quickly.
Stay safe, Donnamae.

Love how you’ve decorated your mini real estate holdings for Christmas. And I love your Putz houses. I have a modest collection, maybe 5, that I display on our window sill in the kitchen. I love looking at them when I’m doing dishes. It’s turned very cold here and we have a covering of snow. It’s tree decorating tonight. This year we went with a tall, very slim tree. We really like it and it doesn’t take up as much room. Lights are on so we’ll add the decorations. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
I’m sure your tree looks lovely, Elaine.

I watch this movie in tears.. This film is about a Polish shop, Polish people, even Polish money. It makes me very sad because it was filmed the same year Hitler invaded Poland.
Claudia says
A gentle correction Barb – the shop is in Budapest, Hungary. They are Hungarians.
But they surely lived with the same fear as the citizens of Poland did.
Stay safe.
Barb says
Thanks for correction. But I’m pretty sure I’ll keep crying.
Claudia says
Oh yes, so will I! And I’ve thought the same thing. They had no idea what was coming.

So pretty…..thank you for sharing your little corner of the world. Have a warm, wonderful and peaceful Christmas.
I have some soft jazz playing in the background and am enjoying my coffee ….looking out at the squirrel raiding my bird feeder.
Stay well.

Enjoy these days, Maria.

I always love when you show the houses. They’re my favorites. Love your Crystal Santa on the porch and all the sweet decorations. The putz village is especially lovely by the clock! You are so ready!
Claudia says
I really like the Putz village there!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
