Dolly.
Along with practically everyone else in the world, I am mourning the loss of an extraordinary human being. She was a light. She lived in the light. She showed us the light. I told Don that the thought came to me that she was an angel who came down to our planet to show us the way to live a good life.
I believe that.
Rest in Peace, dear Dolly Parton.

I spent Tuesday morning cleaning and organizing the studio. I couldn’t take the mess anymore. A few days away from the work on the Beacon Hill gave me a clear-eyed view of the space and that was that. It had to be cleaned up.
I took the opportunity to take some pictures with one of my big girl cameras and a macro lens.
First up, a view of what the entire dollhouse looks like at the moment:

The den. (New piece of art from the same creator of my other pieces. )

The green cabinet. I need more mini Roseville. (And I need to clean up the Blu Tack that’s holding the pottery in place!)
I’m keeping the camera upstairs so I can take more of these wonderful macro looks at the Beacon Hill.

R.I.P. Dolly. Although I am not a huge fan of Country Music, Jolene would rank in my all time top ten songlist. I believe she did wonderful work promoting books for impoverished children throughout America.
She was a thoroughly good person.

Good Morning Claudia. I feel the same way about Dolly. She was so genuinely loving. A true Star. Yes, a guiding light. She will be missed but her gifts will live on.
And the pictures of The Beacon Hill are beautiful! I am glad you cleaned your workspace. Some people need the blank slate to be able to move forward… I am afraid I don’t usually require that and am sometimes so glad I did not clean away little fragments that turn into something unexpected but Exactly what was needed…. its a mystery to me! But even I have my limits… cleanliness is required (mess is a different definition in my book.) That said…. your space is ready for you to add more of your grace to the House! Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Oh, I hang onto every piece of wood until I’m completely done with a project (and even a bit beyond.) But cleaning up and organizing means I organize the wood, too.

I’m off to HongKong and Tokyo with daughters and boyfriend of one of them. He speaks Cantonese (my Cantonese is so rusty that it has holes in it) and Japanese. He also set up the itinerary, and booked the flights, hotels and places where we need tickets to get in. He’s a handy guy to have around!

very sad to learn about dolly parton’s passing. she provided/s so much goodness for the world!!! loved her in “9 to 5” and “steel magnolias”, was fortunate to see her in a very fun concert. also, i have a lot of art and the one piece that *always* receives the most attention is a 3×4-feet painting of dolly playing a guitar. it’s a great likeness of dolly, and i found it in a very eclectic shop in minneapolis. could hardly believe it when the shopkeeper said it was for sale (after telling me it had been painted by her brother in 1972) – and, many, many, many years ago, she sold it to me for the shockingly-paltry sum of $60.00. i’ve turned down requests to sell it, and always been quite pleased to have it.

my sister and i drove up to minneapolis (in a thankfully-air-conditioned rental car) yesterday to hear one of my faves, todd rundgren. loved it! we were easily awake enough so drove four hours home, picked up my car and returned the rental … at 3 am. :o so today we are taking it easy due to the car-jag. :)

So sad about Dolly. You are so right on about her. She will be greatly mixed. Your photos are great. On my to do list today, organize my office/craft room. It is disaster right now. I get really stressed if things are organized. Just one thing my husband does not comply with…..oh well!

Omg, our Dolly Parton!! I wasn’t expecting this to happen so soon. She was special, for sure!
Back to the dr today. Ive lost quite a bit of weight and am thin anyways. Could I have a problem with my popp machine? I have celiac – not so nice.
We’ve had the pest control co over a few times. She said that we must have a colony or more of wasps.
My Michael’s birthday!! 64. His unique and unusual methods to figuring things out has benefited City Hall very much, Here’s to many more years and many unread books to devour.

Dolly was a remarkable person, in every way. Talent, drive, smarts and her generosity is inspiring . She was one of the best people on this planet. I loved many of her songs but my all time favorite is “A Hard Candy Christmas.” I still have the cassette tape of that album.

I remember playing “Jolene” over and over again when I was young and watching her on T.V. way back when. Dolly was an earth star and now she’s shining in heaven. Her enthusiasm for life was such an inspiration.
I’ve been away from miniatures for a while, having retired and moving to Portugal. I did bring my beacon hill (Pennethorne Manor) along with me though, and I’m so glad I did. I’m working on finishing up small details and will soon be embarking on a new dollhouse build having just received the Tennyson dollhouse kit.
Your Beacon Hill is coming along beautifully and I’m looking forward to your progress. I love the sofa in the living room! And the Roseville pottery is divine! Thanks for sharing!
