Doves, Violets & A Gift

May 17, 2019 at 9:51 am by Claudia

I finally remembered to bring the doves, who were living in the office, outside to their seasonal home on the porch. I love these beauties.

And I carefully walked around the gardens and took some photos yesterday, which I’ll share soon. Here, you see the white violets that have self-seeded their way into my garden bed.

It’s amazing how much is revealed via the camera lens. You barely see the purple marks with the naked eye.

The other day, I got a package in the mail from my friend Barbara, who lives in Alberta, Canada. That’s two packages from Alberta this week! Barbara is a miniature lover and she sent me a package with a Paris theme. Sigh of happiness.

Charming canisters.

Some window boxes.

Some Eiffel Tower charms which can be transformed into a decorative element in one or more of the dollhouses, a black and white print of the Eiffel Tower, and a Paris pillow.

And this gorgeous console table. Isn’t it lovely?

Oh, I forgot – there’s a little charm that can be made into a mirror, as well! Forgot to take a picture.

Thank you so much, Barbara. I love every little thing. The package arrived on a day when my back was quite painful and the reveal of its contents put a big old smile on my face!

I am blessed with friends that I have met via this blog. I never take it for granted.

I’ve not seen many rabbits this year – only one. And I’m not sure if the groundhog I saw long ago was Henry, which makes me worry that he’s no longer with us. I guess I’ll have to wait and watch. We see a guy who travels here from the shed next door. We’ve named him Joe, but he could be Nigel from last year. Who knows? But Henry? Henry, if you’re here, reveal yourself, please. Don and Claudia are worried about you.

Still being careful in my movements, which is getting tiresome. But better safe than sorry!

Happy Friday.

Years ago when I saw a doctor about a pulled back, she said that the best way for it to heal is to gently stretch the muscles even if it hurts. You lay on the floor and slowly arch your back with your shoulders on the floor. Also on your stomach and slowly arch your back.

I have taken this advice and usually healed within a few days.

Thanks, Julie. I know this would probably help, but I have a hyper-extended back and arching my back can make it worse, unfortunately. xo

The Paris miniatures are adorable. I think I need to go and look at all my Paris photos and dream a little of that amazing trip. I need to take some photos of all the plants John has in the yard. It’s never looked better. Today is the last day of school for the kiddos but Sara has another week so they are in camp next week. I need to plan a few adventures with them while I can!!

I frequently go back and look at my Paris photos. I miss it so much! I just like to remind myself that I was there.

OH MY! What a wonderful package you received. They looked so real, I thought they were full size and wondering about the size of the box that landed on your step — till I saw the charms with the other for scale and realized the whole thing was teeny-weeny-wonderful. How very kind!

Your photos are gorgeous. I’ve been noticing the same as I’ve been downloading my spring flings. It makes the work worthwhile. And glad you are taking it slow. I overdid with the garden yesterday and spent a good deal of the morning working on the garage. I think this weekend might be a tad more mellow, though I hope to get to the nursery to get some things for planting even if it still might be a little too cool! Have a great weekend!

It’s so easy to overdo in the garden Jeanie. Take it slow and stretch a lot!

I love your gifts, as well as the white violets. But those doves! I’d better do some digging tomorrow and find my iron birds to put on the clothesline posts.

Everything’s still rather topsy-turvy around here. So much to unpack and get straight—phhhhhhh—makes me tired just thinking about it!

I don’t envy you – but wait a minute, you have a house on a lake in New York and a cottage on the ocean in Florida….I DO envy you!

We’re allowed to feel tired, even when we know that we’re blessed, Shanna.

Love those doves. Wish I could find something like that around here. I’m in love with those miniature canisters and the console table – and I don’t even have a dollhouse!

Such lovely items! You have a wonderful friend. I so wish I could return to Paris. Not for a while. : (

I enjoyed your photographs. I hope that your back heals swiftly. It is good to read that you are being careful.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
