You’re saying, “That’s nice, Claudia, but boring. Why the photo of the porch railing?” Yes it is boring, but it is clean. I spent all of yesterday with a bucket of water and bleach scrubbing all the railings and posts. We have a big porch that wraps around the front and side of the house. There has been so much rain here this year that the railing was dirty, a little mildewy and parts of it had a green tinge. I should have tackled this earlier in the summer. Oh, that’s right, I wasn’t here until July! I know this isn’t earth-shattering, but it makes me feel good. That white is a lot crisper looking now and I love it.
Heidi called me this afternoon. An indie film shot a scene at her shop today. The setting was supposed to be a flower shop so the film makers brought dozens of roses. And they left them with her at the end of the day. She’s been giving them away to all her friends. I had just stopped mowing the lawn (an endless job on this property) and I ran down there to get some. Here is one of the bouquets (I’m saving the other for another post):

Sounds like you had a wonderfully enchanting day to me! Sometimes it the little happinesses or simply the absence of badnesses in our day that go unappreciated. I’m glad you were able to recognize these little brights spots in yours. :)

The lavender roses look like LaVonne roses, some of my favorites. How nice to have fresh roses at home!
You’ve inspired me to take care of the rails on our screen enclosure for the pool. It needs attention, too!
Just wanted you to know I’ve added your blog to my “Favorites” list on mine. See you soon!
Hugs,
Donna

I don’t know what it is about fall approaching, but we are in the cleaning mode around here too. Today we cleaned the exterior of the house including the windows. Wow was it dirty. It looks so good now. I hope we have the energy to keep it up. Love your blog.

Oh Claudia:
The porch is so crispy clean. Love it. It is winterized and ready for Fall and Winter now. The flowers are so beautiful. How can anyone turn down free roses? Oh my. I can smell the fragrance just looking at the picture. Sweet smelling I see. Thanks for making my day rosy. I have enjoyed my visit. You’re a doll. Country hugs, Sherry

Oh, I can appreciate that clean railing. After I accomplish something like that I have to go look at it a bazillion times throughout the day!
Those roses are lovely- is it just me, or do lavender roses smell the best?
The Curious Cat says
ooo lavendar roses? I’ll ask the question that has been asked already – do they smell of rose or lavendar?! Good work with the porch! You must feel like the roses were a nice reward for your efforts! xxx

I think I could smell those roses through the monitor! They are beautiful.
And I think your cleaned porch is a wonderful tribute to Labor Day. Solid effort put into a job – no matter what the job is – can yield high satisfaction and pride. Everyone likes to be involved in something meaningful and that comes in many different forms and flavors.
My hub and I would love a big wrap around porch. Enjoy your day on your clean porch!

If I had spent my day scrubbing I’d show it off too. Only thing I can show is the broken couch is now off the front porch! We will decorate it soon!

Sorry I’m late for Pink Saturday… Labor Day weekend got in the way. So I got to see your sweet Pink Post & your Doll house goodies & I got to see your clean porch!!!! I know a project like that is not fun or exciting but, the satisfaction when it’s done is worth it! And I LOVED the roses. Weren’t you just the lucky girl this weekend. I am so glad you liked the cottage site I shared this week for PS. I think I am going to do a post about her kitchen backsplash next Saturday. I wanted to this week but, didn’t hear back from her in time for the post (& I wouldn’t use her photos without her permission) See ya next week. Have a great week.
