Early, Early Morning

February 10, 2012 at 9:39 am by Claudia

Why was I awake at 5 a.m.? A case of the middle-of-the-night worry brain. Do you ever come down with that affliction? I sure do. So here I sit, drinking coffee, eyes a little irritated, pondering the day ahead.

Thank you for all the warm well wishes on the opening of our shop. And thank you to those of you who purchased one of our creations. I hope to get those packages out today – tomorrow at the latest. By the way, Meredith’s woven shawls are rectangular, light as air, and much more beautiful than my photos of them indicate. I have one and I wear it all the time. She’s got one in the mail to me (for the shop) that is a beautiful, ever-so-subtle sparkly gray.

I just listed another Obsession Scarf. This one is a gorgeous shade of Apple Green. The yarn is a combination of silk and bamboo – oh my gosh, it’s so silky and soft to the touch. I would wear this one all year round. Believe me, if I could keep it for myself, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Some of you wrote me saying the link to the Etsy Shop wasn’t working. Every time I’ve tried it, it has worked. Don’t click on the Etsy Shop label. It’s just a sidebar label. Either click on one of the individual photos, or click on ScoutHarper (in blue) at the bottom of the widget. If you’re still having trouble, it may be a problem with your browser. Here is the link.

Playing with BeFunky. This is called Orton Style and gives a photo a sort of artsy blur. Interesting. Let’s move on to some flowers hit by this morning’s sunlight.

I see that my boy Riley is waking up (he always sleeps in.) Have to go help him up.

And something outside has caught Miss Scout’s eye.

Playing with the font again. Yay or Nay?

Have a wonderful Friday.

I think everyone has that problem from time to time. I did not have a problem with going to your Etsy store. Between you and your sister, you both are very talented! I know you will be successful in this new endeavor!~Hugs, Patti

Hi Claudia, Love the photos! I’m heading over to the Etsy shop to take a look around. Maybe I can get something next week, I just spluged yesterday on a vintage scale with a turquoise face!

Congratulations on your shop! I hope you keep a supply of the green scarf because I adore it! Scout looks so sweet looking out that window. Yes, I have those moments when I awake too early. I just go with it, and have a cup of camomile tea.

Best wishes on your Etsy shop. We’ve been wondering whether we should open one for the children’s clothes we make…. still haven’t decided.

Love the new font style. It’s really easy to read.

I also enjoyed your post from yesterday about watching movies, etc. at home. I would much rather watch in the warmth and comfort of our den. And the snacks don’t cost nearly as much as they do at the movies! :)

Hi Claudia, I am so glad to hear that your shop is a success! Your work is beautiful, and so is your sisters.

Love the name, had to mull it around for awhile until I got the connotations, we are Canadian after all….

Yes, that apple green is gorgeous! My favorite one in fact. If I could stand a thing around my neck (won’t even wear collars) I’d be wanting that. The font looks great.

    Claudia,
I am often awake at 5 or even earlier. If something is on my mind this is my time to deal with it or figure it out!

Love everything you and Mere have made – how lovely to have two such creative and talented sisters.

Good luck with your Etsy shop dear, I’ll be checking it out often. Will you be doing custom orders down the road – i.e. could we request a specific color for a scarf or shawl perhaps?

Hope you get more rest and can enjoy the weekend. Fancy Jenny and Susie being that close to your house – I recall them telling me they stopped by Heidi’s shop that day. BTW – at SuzAnna’s yesterday there was a hanging shade similar to your new one – but whoever made it just took a small lace tablecloth and draped it over and let it hang down in points – quite pretty, and I thought of you sewing on your doilies!!

    Hugs – Mary

Hi Claudia, I have been going through the same thing with waking up at 4:30 or 5:30, no matter what time I go to bed or how tired I am–and you may not like the explanation my doctor gave me–she says it is either “stress” or “being 55” and all the hormonal horrors that go with that age, or some combination. Congratulations on your shop opening! Did you know that all your side bar rectangles (Searching…My Photo Blog, etc.) link to the advertising page for photo bucket? Even your own button for your daily photo page links there.
And that picture of Scout with her ears perked and shoulders at attention just made my day!

Is that your dog peaking out the window? It looks like a cat from the back. How funny. I love that green scarf. It is not too bulky which I love and here we don’t really need them for warmth.

One day you’ll have to do a yarn primer: Yarn 101. I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years (ouch!), but know little about yarn. I just get whatever is recommended for the pattern, or just use whatever is on hand, which is usually “baby yarn” that I use for the baby afghans. I’d love to know about the silk and bamboo yarn, it sounds heavenly!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
