Egg Cups, Part Deux

March 31, 2012 at 10:47 am by Claudia

As promised, here are a few more egg cups. These are on a little shelf in the den, which for some reason, looks crooked in this photo. Top left, Humpty Dumpty, made in England; one of my favorites, the Painter Bunny egg cup, made in Japan. Second shelf, Humpty Dumpty again – this one is quite large; the head comes off and is a salt shaker and the egg nestles in the body. Next to that, a pig ready to dine on an egg – from Tiffany’s. Bottom shelf: Part of a series of Disney egg cups made in 1939 – Doc. (I want more of these, but they are expensive!) Next to that, a little clown with the sweetest face, holding an egg.

I wanted to give you close-ups, but it’s very rainy today and the lighting just wasn’t right.

Happy Saturday.

What a treasure, especially Humpty Dumpty with the salt shaker. You sure don’t see these often. And the shelf they’re on is pretty darn cute too.

    P.S. No books yet.

Claudia, I love your egg cup collection. It’s very nice. The lady that was my gaurdian angel used to eat eggs in those cups.. Yikes. I can’t eat eggs that are not fully cooked. Are you getting use to your willow tree being gone yet? I think of you.Our Catalpa is just starting to show signs of blooms. Smiles, Susie(She Junks)

These are so sweet, Claudia! You inspired me to get out the small collection of papier mâché eggs I have. Right now they’e clustered in an old sewing basket. (By the way, do you like to read P.D. James? During an interview once she said her love of mystery began as a child: she read about Humpty Dumpty and wondered “Did he fall, or was he pushed?” I thought of that when I saw your Humpty egg cups!) Happy April!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
