Thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments yesterday!
It’s really just a little blip of an appearance on the screen. A re-emergence from retirement for a brief moment to be of service. But it was fun and unexpected. And most importantly, it was very moving to be in that room, sharing the scene with Jim and Ben, especially. Add in Bill Irwin and Sally Field and there’s the icing on the cake. By the way, Sally and Bill are incredibly kind and nice and funny. On their last day on the set, Bill stopped and told me how happy he was that we got to work together in that scene.
Anyway, on to the realities of this day: a heat advisory, an air quality advisory, and temperatures that will be well over 100 degrees when you add in the humidity. I’ve already been out to hand water all the plants, but of course, there’s only so much I can do. I’ll water again later in the day or early in the evening. We will be in this insane stretch of weather through the weekend.
This has been an awful summer – abnormally high temperatures that would be okay for a day or two, but, instead, stay here for two weeks at a time. Then a slight break, and they’re back again. My plants are suffering, the lawn is brown. It’s just dreadful.
Adding to that are my allergies which are particularly bad in this kind of weather.
Okay. Enough complaining. I have a lot of work to do. But brain fog is not helping me accomplish anything at the moment. All I want to do is sleep. I can see why siestas are so popular!
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

Happy for you. Sally Field is one of my favorite actresses always…I am starting British Lit senior year with my youngest grand girl today…the eldest graduated Purdue and works for a publisher in NYC…the middle graduates college in May…the youngest a senior in high school…all home schooled…the first two have put themselves through expensive college years with loans, scholarships, and grants…the youngest is applying now…wonderful young ladies…I am also, of course, helping with education of two grandsons here on Florida…going into fifth grade and into second grade into the gifted school they attended last year…a new one… it sure if I will take on a new student on FaceTime…am deciding…off to FaceTime with my girl…have a good day…

Thanks, Brenda!

Yikes. I’d happily send you this morning’s 69 degrees and yesterday’s rain (though we did need the rain) if I could. Not for 100+ though. That’s too grim. There was a bigger rainstorm at home, too and I’m suspecting there is a large pond in my basement. I am hoping it’s all gone down the basement drain…. nothing I can do about it here and I’m not going home to bail. Hopefully everything is high enough off the ground to be OK. Maybe musty. But OK.
Now I have to read yesterday’s post to see what you referred to here. Are you an extra in the film? Fun!
Claudia says
You’ll see!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Delighted to hear about your ensemble scene. A great mixture of students and admired stars, quite an experience. Gardens are beautiful but I’m glad I’m not a gardener this year, or last. as I remember last summer we got rain storm after the rain storm and I think it did A number on the gardens around here. Please say hi to the girls for me.
Claudia says
It is terrible out there. I’m doing my best to save my gardens, but it’s hard work.
Stay safe, Nora.
