Entertaining is Exhausting

June 25, 2011 at 10:23 am by Claudia

So say these two. I’m inclined to agree. The week has been about clean-up outside and clean-up inside. And a party. Now I need to rest.

Don thanks you for all your lovely birthday greetings. He was truly surprised and amazed as he read them all. You are the best!

We had a lovely day yesterday culminating in a wonderful evening with a group of musician friends. Stir-fry, salad, munchies and sugar-free Julian apple-raspberry pie. Though we tried to steer our guests to the other sugary pie we had on hand, it didn’t work. They know a good thing when they see it. Delicious! A good time was had by all and I think Don really had a great day. We have declared this the birthday weekend. Maybe it will be the birthday month…

Since it has been incessantly raining for the last 3 days, I was scrambling to find some roses that still had petals.

This is the simple jar of roses that sat on the table.

The sun is out, though more storms are forecast for later in the day. I may mosey on outdoors and pull a few weeds. Perhaps I can persuade the birthday boy to move the stuff off the porch and onto the side of the road where we will add a big FREE sign. I want my porch back.

Have a great weekend.

Get that porch back, Claudia! It is essential to your mental health to have your porch. Tell the birthday boy it is his exercise for the weekend. I want to see you out there with the dogs, lounging, enjoying the view.

A lovely way to spend your days…celebrating with friends, and being cozy at home. Yes to the cleared porch and did you say FREE??? Good thing I am too far away.
    Happy Rainy Summer Weekend…

Nothing like a party to get us sprucing up the house and tidying up the garden. Porches are essential for mental health lounging! Sounds like a lovely party.

    Hi Claudia,
So glad that Don had a wonderful birthday yesterday! Sounds like a great evening and the food selection sounds wonderful! That pie sounds delicious! Enjoy your Sunday with Don and your cute dogs. Hope you do something relaxing and fun today… Happy Birthday, Don! Enjoy! I am not too far behind you…57 on my next birthday. So, glad the b-day party went well. But I agree, why do we stress so over entertaining. Take a good breather today and sit back enjoy the Sunday sun and your garden with a good book on that wonderfully shady porch.

    Claudia dear,

Of course you like my Mockingbird Studio, honestly, I named it five years ago before I knew about you…I’m not a copycat, but I must say…don’t we have good taste?

So happy that you’re harvesting from the seeds I sent. Me too, but it has been hot and some are bolting now.

    Sending a pocketful of joy,

Belated “Happy Birthday” to your husband. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I noticed the metal tray on your coffee table. Love it…brings back memories of my Mom…she had the same set at her home for years.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
