It is so disgustingly awful here! Yesterday, it felt like 110° and reached a high of 101. Today, more of the same. The weather has quite literally made me sick. The humidity is tough on my allergies and chronic bronchial issues. I feel miserable. I’ve been going outside twice a day to thoroughly water everything and that’s it. Inside the rest of the day.
This will last through tomorrow, then some relief will be in sight.
Anyway, both Don and I feel like our brains are mush. We’re just trying to get through the day – holding off on starting up the A/C as long as possible. I swear the “heat dome” they’re talking about is actually our second floor.
In an interesting plot twist, both wallpaper orders arrived yesterday. Go figure! But of course, I can’t do anything until the weather breaks.
Since I feel so miserable and tomorrow is a holiday I won’t be celebrating until someone is removed from office, but is also the 32nd anniversary of the day we met, I’m going to take the day off tomorrow. No post. Given this horrible weather, I don’t think we’ll do much celebrating, but Happy Anniversary to us!
Happy Birthday today to my beloved sister!
Please take care during these days of excessive heat.
See you on Monday.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

If you are sick and miserable why not just leave the a/c on 24/7 ?
Because we don’t need it on first thing in the morning and our Central Hudson electric bills are already high because they keep raising their rates.
The bedroom A/C is on at night.
setting aside here for the moment the man who should be forced out of office and the courts and congress that enable him …
just want to say happy 32nd anniversary of the day you met, claudia and don!
and happy birthday to your sister meredith!
much happiness, good health and many more blessings are wished and prayed for you all.
glad the wallpaper finally arrived.
here, listening to strong rainfall and the occasional rumblings of thunder. we need it! i need a walk, too, but a steady, longer rain lasting more than ten minutes sadly doesn’t happen here much anymore, so the walk will wait and i am okay with that.
happy fourth of july to everyone! be safe in the heat and around fireworks.
kathy
Thanks so much, Kathy.
Stay safe.
My current post is on the state of affairs — I don’t feel like celebrating either. But I decided to celebrate the press, the people of Minneapolis, the fighters. It’s up to all of us.
Have a very happy anniversary!
Oh, I do celebrate them!
And a military man who risked his career to speak out. He’s a hero.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Hi Jeannie, I went to Minneapolis last year for a nephew’s wedding. I didn’t think I’d ever visit Minneapolis and was so blown away by everything I saw, from the Mill City Museum (now one of my favorite museums of all time and I’ve seen a lot of museums) to the sculpture garden, which we walked around on Mothers Day after looking the the arts and craft fair booths. Wedding, unfortunately, was just ok (though being with family is always great) but my time in Minneapolis was thoroughly enjoyable. Everyone we talked to…friendly friendly friendly.
This heat has been unbearable. We had some relief last night as a storm blew in, and dumped an inch of rain on us. It temporarily cooled us down, but who knows what today will bring.
We’re not celebrating either…just the reunion of our family. We are whole until Monday….when our oldest son and wife fly back to Edinburgh. Visits are always too short.
Stay cool as best you can this weekend…and Happy First Date Anniversary to you both! Enjoy the weekend!! ;)
Thank you so much, Donnamae. Enjoy this time with your family.
Stay safe.
Lots to celebrate tomorrow – you and Don meeting, Meredith’s birthday, July 4th! Hope the weather does cool down. It’s hot here too but not quite that hot. Happy your wall paper arrived safely. Hugs, Elaine
Meredith’s birthday is today – I wasn’t clear on that -but otherwise, yes!
Thanks, Elaine.
Stay safe.
Yay for the wallpaper arriving!
Happy Birthday to Meredith! I miss her blog. I hope she is doing well and still knitting.
And…Happy Anniversary to you and Don!
Take care
Thank you, Marilyn.
Stay safe.
Happy Birthday to your sister! Hope she has a wonderful year.
Happy Anniversary of your first meeting with Don! That sure worked out so well!
It did!
Thanks so much, Ellen.
Stay safe.
Happy Wedding Anniversary tomorrow! I know that I complain about the rain but last week we had temperatures in the 90s. It was unbearable, no air conditioning as it’s rare to experience such high temperatures.
I’ve only experienced 100F once before in Spain but it was a dry heat and I wasn’t going about my daily life.
Much sympathy for you
Happy Weekend
It’s actually the anniversary of the day we met, Dee Dee. On the Fourth of July on the beach in San Diego.
You all have been suffering from the heat, as well. Hope it gets cooler for you.
Stay safe.
Hope the heat passes quickly and you get some relief soon.
How ironic the wallpaper has arrived and you can’t work in your office. I understand why you wouldn’t want to bring all your supplies and the large Beacon Hill downstairs to work on. I’m currently putting print photos in albums and my boxes holding supplies and photos are taking up the entire breakfast table. My brothers digitized all their photos but I love flipping through albums. The table won’t be used for anything else, until I get tired of the process and put everything away for a while. I could do the project elsewhere in the house but I like how I can spread out on this table. The desk in my office is too small.
Happy “we met” anniversary! My husband used to manipulate every significant date so they’d fall on the 11th, first date, proposal, wedding. I don’t know how he did it (I suspect it was serendipity) but the house I live in now, where we raised our children, closed on an 11th too. Every 11th was an anniversary, whether counted in years and/or months. He said that way, he’d never forget.
I love that about your husband! It’s such a lovely and charming thing to do.
Thanks so much, Wendy.
Stay safe.
