Fabric Eggs and Egg Cups

My Necco Snow Globe has been temporarily retired. But don’t worry, it will be back come Christmas. After two years of housing sweet snow globiness, it needed to go back to its original state.

You might not remember but I found this gorgeous, rather large Necco Candy Jar in a local shop, after having seen it at auction in a lot with other vintage jars that I bid on and lost. When I found it months later, I recognized it immediately and grabbed it as quickly as possible. Isn’t it fabulous?

Yesterday I showed you my fabric eggs, made four years ago in San Diego. (One accomplishes a lot when one is away from home for 6 months and a friend loans the aforementioned her Featherweight: 12 fabric eggs, 2 quilt tops.) Anyway, I digress, here they are in their holiday home:

eggsinjar1

My little lamb thinks they are pretty snazzy. Pardon me while I rave once more about the graduated Art Deco style of the glass. It makes my heart sing.

And the graphics on the lid.

And the fact that I used to live very close to the Necco factory in Cambridge, MA. I could smell them as I passed by.

eggsinjar2

I don’t do a lot of holiday-type decorating, as you know. But I sure like this sort of decorating. And, like the snow globe, this just might linger past the holidays.

eggcups

As we head toward an early Easter, I thought I might share a wee bit of my egg cup collection with you each day. I collect mostly figural egg cups because I find them so utterly charming. And they must be vintage.

They make me smile.

Today I’m sharing doggy egg cups.

On the left: Two dogs holding up an egg. I love this one and I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

Center: A Scottie egg cup.

Right:  Dog in a rather dashing suit.

More tomorrow.

Oh, I love that “Deco Necco” jar! Looks lovely with the Easter eggs.
Your egg cup collection is fun. I remember eating eggs that way when I was a child, but no longer. Omelets are my favorite now.
    Looking forward to more close-ups.

It all started with an egg cup given to me by my godparents. I’ll show that one, too.

I fell for your fabric eggs the minute I saw them! I think they will be my next sewing project. Did you use interfacing? Loving the Necco jar, too. Art Deco is over-the-top fabulous. I would love seeing fabric eggs in those ADORABLE egg cups!

Love the Necco jar, and the eggs look wonderful inside. I, too, love old jars. I have a wonderful Solitaire Coffee jar that was purchased at an auction. Actually, we bought two, but sold one. Just this morning, I was telling my husband that I wish we had kept both of them.
Your jar is a small treasure!

I LOVE your Necco jar! For the same reasons – the deco design and vintage lid – I have several vintage gallon “pickle” jars that are molded like a barrel. Say – I’m enamored of your Featherweight and found one on Etsy – and I’ve wanted/needed a portable sewing machine for my crafty endeavors.. and HUBBY is putting the kibosh on me getting it declaring that we need a NEW one that threads itself. Any chance you could help me with some bargaining ammunition on why I should get a vintage one??? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I enjoyed seeing the eggs, Claudiia, and I’m glad to see the lamb is enjoying them, too, and that you are enjoying him in a spring vignette as well.

Cute egg cups. I have two chicks that I bought for us to use, some wooden ones that I had years ago for an Easter party, some blue ones I found in recent years, and one antique one that was my grandmothers, but none of them are as much fun as yours. Neat collection full of whimsy which you know I always enjoy.

    XO,

    Sheila

I, too, love the gorgeous Art Deco shape and graphics on the jar. It was meant to be yours! I think your easter decorations are perfect for reflectiong new life, resurrection and the “Lamb of God”. I would leave the jar of eggs out after easter to enjoy, too! Your vintage egg cup collection is nicely displayed. Very cute! Thanks for sharing.

I like your style of decorating. It’s livable. :-) I love the way your egg cups look together on that little shelf. I found a really cute egg coddler the other day… wonder if that means a new collection is on the way? I don’t know, will have to keep my eyes open I guess.

Necco Wafers are my FAVORITE candy, Claudia! (Along with Conversation Hearts, which are made of the same sugary stuff.) That jar is stunning, and as much as I loved the snow-globe, when the jar is upright you can really appreciate its beautiful lines. I didn’t realize when I commented yesterday that you’d made those eggs. They’re wonderful!
