They’re fading from the deep purple that they were. And we’re going to get a lot of rain this weekend. So I thought I’d take one last group of photos.
I love you, lilacs.
My niece and great-niece are seeing Anastasia this afternoon. I’ve arranged for them to meet Christy backstage after the show. I hope they have a great time!
Happy Saturday.

The lilacs are so pretty even fading! How wonderful for your niece and great niece to meet Christy! It’s cloudy here so I’m feeling a bit down. I’ll do laundry and read today. Hugs!

Here, too. And raining. I’m in a bit of a funk myself!
Shanna says
Yup! Rain here, too. But I think my lilac buds are still too small to be adversely affected by it. Looks like you have enjoyed a long, beautiful lilac season this year. And they keep that glorious scent even as they fade, don’t they?
Claudia says
A very nice long season – how lovely it’s been!
Diane says
These are gorgeous! I tried twice to grow a lilac bush and they just don’t like our soil I guess.
Claudia says
Do you get a hard freeze? You have to have a hard freeze or they won’t thrive!

Lilacs bring so many memories of my years in Wisconsin and Illinois. I’m surrounded by so many flowers in CA,but the scent of lilacs is my favorite. I hope you have brought some indoors.xo Annette in CA
Claudia says
I did, last weekend. But I don’t usually do that as I like them to thrive where they’re planted.

The lilacs are so pretty. I’m sad when any of my flowers fade. I planned my garden to have flowers nearly 9-10 months of the year so something is blooming. Harvested our first two (!) strawberries last night. Sweet taste of summer! There are more ripening and we have to get them before the squirrels do. They seem to be waiting for the right time too!
Claudia says
Oh, if only we could have flowers 9 or 10 months of the year! Ah well. Strawberries sound delicious!

Your lilacs are beautiful…even if fading. Little rain this morning…but now beautiful. Stiff as all get out today…hope to limber up outside….still have lots of projects that I want to do this year. Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
Take it easy (said the woman who does way too much when she’s working outdoors!)
Donnamae says
You first! ;)
Claudia says
Ha! (I have no choice today. It’s raining all day long!)

We had 2 lilac bushes when we moved into our house. Sadly, the previous owner had planted them right next to a sidewalk and right next to the house in a corner. I wish people would spread the message that lilacs need to be planted out in an area they can spread out. One town I lived in as a child had lilac bushes every block and you could smell them all over town in the spring.
Claudia says
Yes, I deliberately planted mine in the middles of the the lawn on the far side of the driveway for that very reason!

I wish I could send you some of our purple jacaranda to make up for losing your lilacs, Claudia. Also hope you’re coping okay with stormy weather this weekend. Curl up with a good book!
Claudia says
I have to go out and see if any of them are still there. We’re expected to have thunderstorms tonight with (maybe) hail and high winds tomorrow, so I think I can guarantee they’ll be gone by tomorrow.
