Well, it was way too windy yesterday to do any raking, so that particular task has been moved to today. And the rest of the week. I did manage to get to the grocery store as well as clean the den.
Exciting, right?
Scoutie misses the park. I can tell. I’m sort of missing our little apartment and our adventure. Change isn’t easy. But then I look around the cottage and smile. It’s nice being home. It will be even nicer when Don gets here. In the meantime, he has a terrible cold so he’s feeling miserable at the moment. Our Hamlet had a cold as well. Nothing worse than being an actor in the middle of performances, worrying about whether you’re going to lose your voice because of a cold. I’ve been there. It ain’t fun.
Slightly bedraggled, yet still beautiful zinnias.
I love the splash of autumnal color amidst the brown leaves scattered all over the Funky Patio.
On my first night home, I walked outside to the porch. The sun was setting and I could see the mountains and it was beautiful. I missed that.
Sigh.
I’m flat screen television shopping. I have a good idea what I might purchase, but if you have any recommendations, I’d be very grateful.
New post up on Just Let Me Finish This Page.
Happy Monday.

Love your sunset photos Claudia. Welcome home! Can’t remember what brand TV we have, but we got ours at Target and it was much less $$$ than other places.
Claudia says
Thanks, Vera!
Linda @ Itsy Bits And Pieces says
Such pretty photos, Claudia! Change is a little difficult for me, too…I’m still up for it, but it takes me a while to adjust. Once you know that about yourself, you can cut yourself some slack…Scoutie is probably like that, too! Hope Don is feeling better soon!
Claudia says
Me too – he’s pretty miserable at the moment. Glad he’s not here. I just got over my bad cold!
Julie says
Welcome home. Thank you for posting the lovely pictures.
We really like our Samsung TV.
Claudia says
I just heard from another friends that they are big Samsung fans. Thanks, Julie.
Janet in Rochester says
Such great sunset photos! Is it hard to photograph sunsets in the city? I’m guessing it might be. One more great thing about living in the country. Both my TVs [living room, bedroom] are still the old kind, so I have no idea about who makes a good quality flat-screen. But all my sibs have flat-screens and have had very good luck, price-wise, at Best Buy.
Claudia says
Depends on the lighting, Janet. Easier in the country, that’s for sure.
Lea says
Gorgeous pictures, so glad that you are home, mixed emotions and all.
Our family members and I swear by Panasonic flat screens.
Claudia says
Thanks, Lea.

Our TV is a 32″. VIZIO from WalMart. Now three years old. It works great and price was good. We hate WM. But the pricing won out. Retiring means many of our decisions are now “price driven”. You know how that goes!
Claudia says
Pricing is everything. Though I don’t think I’ll go to Walmart…
Belinda says
You can get a good price on a Vizio usually through http://www.dell.com. We have our second Vizio and a Sony. They have both been great TV’s. Good luck :)
Claudia says
Thanks, Belinda.

We have a 40″ Coby bought at K-Mart over 2 years ago..still looks and works great..It is mounted on the wall which is nice since it doesn’t take up floor space that way..Poor Don and Hamlet..it must be awful to be an Actor and have to perform when you are so sick..best wishes to them both..those sunsets are so pretty..
Claudia says
We can’t mount ours on the wall – it has to sit on a cabinet. Oh, decisions, decisions.
Sylvia says
I’m going to email you a pdf I made that has the Consumer Reports article from earlier this year about TVs. My son found it very helpful (he wound up with a Samsung).
Claudia says
Thank you, Sylvia. My FB friends are recommending Samsung.
Donnamae says
We have Samsung…wouldn’t switch. Went to a funeral this morning near Green Bay. My friend’s mother had a very full life of 91 years. There’s nothing like a funeral to renew perspective. Hope Don feels better soon. I can’t imagine having a cold while acting…what if he has to sneeze? ;)
Claudia says
I guess he sneezes!
Betsy says
Hoping Don feels better very soon and glad you’re back home settling in. We have two flat screen Samsung TV’s and have had them for several years. We really like them and have had no trouble with them. We bought them both at Best Buy after price shopping. Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Betsy
Claudia says
I’m now leaning toward Samsung, Betsy. Thanks!

We have purchased 6 Vizio flat screens in various sized for our own use and as gifts for family. You can’t beat the price for the features and picture quality. All have been purchased on eBay from various sellers. Since technology is a “throw-away” purchase, we can’t see paying more money for an item that will be obsolete or dead in a few years. Forget about repairing these new flat screens! Our oldest Vizio is 8 years old and still has a beautiful picture and sound. It went with our daughter to her new first home. (Husband wanted a larger screen for the family room so he graciously let it go with her.):-) Yes, I agree that Samsung makes a wonderful product, we just can’t justify the extra cost. Do some research on the Vizio company, they have a great history too.
Claudia says
Our current flat screen lasted about 8 years. But we only use one television, really, (the one in the bedroom is usually only used when one of us is under the weather) so we’re willing to invest a wee bit more in the set.
Linda Enneking says
We have three Vizios in our home, have been very happy with them.
Claudia says
Thanks, Linda!
Debi says
A few years ago I would have sworn by Vizios but after all three of ours quit in three years.
Beautiful pictures on them. We have replaced one with a Samsung Smart flat screen and has a few quirks (for those of us not so ‘Smart’) but we are very pleased with it and after Christmas will be buying another Samsung.
Glad you are home and Scout is feeling so good. Hope Don feels better soon.
Thank you for your every day story of your lives.
Claudia says
We’re probably going to get the Samsung Smart TV, though I know it’s not always as simple to use with all those apps. I’ve read articles that say it’s even better to use a Roku or Apple TV for streaming and we might end up doing that.
Linda @ A La Carte says
Sounds like you have done your research on a TV. I think Samsung’s are great. I have a big screen Seiki that I bought on sale on Amazon and it was delivered to my apt… Loved it and so far it’s a good picture and decent sound. Love the zinnia photo!
hugs,
Linda

There is something beautiful and bittersweet about soaking up sunsets and fall flowers. You can feel the chill and change in the air.
