One more rose for you. This one bloomed this morning. Thank goodness I happened to go outside early this morning and happened to see it, allowing me to snap a picture of its perfection. In a few hours it will look very different. These babies are beautiful, but fleeting.
The hydrangeas are getting bigger and fatter and the spirea that I had to cut back is blooming. I also had to prune some of the hydrangeas. Some heavy snow or ice clearly had its way with them. But they’re coming back rather nicely.
I did some weed whacking yesterday, but only a little; my charged battery had been unused for so long because of the crappy weather conditions that it had lost its charge. How frustrating! But now, it’s fully charged and I’ll finish that chore this morning. Don went on a tear and mowed the entire property. He took breaks, of course, but when I cautioned him about it, his response was that he felt good and was in the mood to mow. Since I’ve given that same response to him many times in the past, I understand.
It’s beautiful today and much cooler.
I started an oil of another piece of Roseville. The subject matter is challenging and I’m enjoying the process. For me, Roseville is the perfect choice for a painting because it’s so lush. Big, blowsy flowers, texture everywhere, and wonderful colors. The vases themselves are works of art.
We’re looking forward to a few days of creative hanging out here at the cottage. Don is writing and recording some music, I’ll be tending the gardens and painting. I still have some more work to do on the latest painting, then I’ll share it with you. I want to do a few more mini paintings, as well.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Greetings,
Thank you for the beautiful photo. The rose is so beautiful and the color is exquisite.
Have you ever taken art/painting classes? You certainly have a lot of talent.
Take Care,

No, I’ve never taken any classes. I’m just learning as I go!

The rose is georgous!
I hope Don isn’t feeling the effects of mowing so much yesterday.
We are plagued with gypsy moth caterpillars here. Much of the county is. It is too late to spray this year. The county likely will spray next year. The leaves are falling in shreds. They love oak leaves but will eat others also. It’s no fun to go outside. It’s raining caterpillar poop. This will pass. They will turn into moths soon.
At least we don’t seem to have any cicadas here.
I saw your IG post of your painting. It looks really good so far.
Have a great day and stay safe

I’m so sorry about the caterpillars! What a pain in the tush!
We don’t have cicadas yet, but we’ll get them. I actually love it when we get them. They fascinate me.
Thanks so much, Marilyn.
Stay safe.

I can’t imagine not having any other interests or hobbies either! I’ve always had them and they’ve kept me sane!
Stay safe, Kathy.

That rose is gorgeous….and your hydrangeas are bountiful. Two of my bushes look like yours…..full and lush. The other two, while doing well, are slower to bud out. All are limelight’s…go figure.
You’ve been busy. I see you’ve finished another painting…looks great.
We actually had a rain storm today…got a total of .6 according to our gauge. Not much…but it helps.
FYI….you blog email hadn’t yet come in my email as of this writing. I thought it was odd you hadn’t posted…but you had. Have a good evening! ;)

My limelights never blossom until later in the summer. The ones you see in the photo are Annabelle hydrangeas.
So glad you got some rain!
The emails of the blog posts are out of my control, of course, and every once in a while, a post doesn’t go out. You were smart to come here directly, Donna. Thanks.
Stay safe.

It sounds like you have the perfect weekend planned. Your yard is looking beautiful with the yarrow, that fabulous rose, and the hydrangea buds, too. Yours might be a bit ahead of mine — not much.
Enjoy the painting — isn’t it fun?
Claudia says
It is! Sometimes frustrating, too, but I like a challenge!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
