This crown vetch is my favorite thing at the moment. And, as you can see, bees love it. It’s quite tall and is growing outside of the big garden bed. This year, with all the reseeded plants filling every bit of the big garden bed, it’s getting a very natural and wild look. If I could ever so slightly control that, it would be good news for me. Less weeding, more plants, less back pain. Fingers crossed!
Oh my god, the Knicks! That game was intense and both Don and I had given up and were sure they’d have to play at least one more game in NYC, but wow! They rallied, they took control, and they WON. We were up too late and woke up too early the next morning, but it was worth it.
The wood floors are complete in the Beacon Hill kitchen.

I love this kitchen, The three windows over the sink are so charming. My only wish it that is was a bit larger, but that’s okay. There’s room for a stove and refrigerator. Speaking of stoves, I had an idea over the weekend and wrote a post on my IG miniatures account that showed a photo of Stella. I asked if someone thought it might be possible to make a 3D printed version of my stove. It would be much less expensive, and I might be perfectly happy with it. Someone came through and we are going to collaborate. I will provide photos of Stella and measurements, as well. The husband and wife team on that account would offer it in their shop so that others could also have a vintage stove in their dollhouses. I figure, why not try? My ideal is the one I’ve shown you, but it’s over $300 and neither of us is working. This one would cost me between 50 and 60 dollars. I’d have to paint it and figure out what paint to use so that the white looks like enamel and the chrome is chrome-looking. I figure, what have I got to lose? Even if it’s not my ideal, it can be a place holder until I can save up the money for the one on Etsy.
Wish us luck!
The temperatures are much more sane this morning, so I’m going to do some work outside.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

What a clever idea to have a 3-D version of Stella made. A much more reasonable cost. Your crown vetch is very pretty. It must feel great to have the kitchen floor finished. It’s all coming together rather nicely. Hugs, Elaine
The hardest thing to deal with will be the stairs and the hallways. It’s already assembled, so I have to try to work around them when I wallpaper.
Thanks, Elaine.

Good Morning Claudia! The floor looks just gorgeous and brings such a “gingerbread” warmth to this room. I do hope your Stella collaboration works smoothly! My understanding of 3-D printing (very very limited) is that it usually needs a lot of sanding to remove the layer marks. But I really only have seen the on-line photos not the real thing. As you say it can always be a space holder for the real one as you save over time. It is certainly worth a try! I look forward to seeing the results!
Yes it does need a bit of sanding, but it depends on the material used. The green cabinet in the living room could have used a bit of sanding, but I didn’t, and it looks fine. But stove would need a smooth exterior, so I expect to do some sanding.
Thanks, Betsy!

What a great idea to use a 3D printer! One of my sons has one, and he makes all sorts of useful things. There are all sorts of plans for things out there, too. Wishing you good luck on that project.
The crown vetch is quite pretty this year. And the flooring looks great. I’m sure you’re pleased to have that project done. Enjoy your day! ;)
If I was younger, I’d buy a printer, but it isn’t worth it at this point in my life!
Thanks so much, Donnamae.

Brilliant piece of social networking to be able to collaborate with the couple who will 3-D print a mini-Stella for you. I avoid social networks like the plague, except for commenting on your blog and having an e-mail friendship with a couple of people who write needlework-related blogs. But then I read about some positive thing coming out of social networking and I’m pleased there is good out there.
There are negatives, of course, but I’ve mostly experienced positives on social media. (If I experience a negative, that person is blocked.)
And, of course, I’ve been using social media for 18 years on this blog!
I’m hopeful about this collaboration. I have to take measurements and I mowed today, so I can’t bring myself to tackle that.
Thanks a lot, Wendy.

The kitchen is a beauty!
Thank you so much, Marion.
I appreciate your kind words.

what a great idea to have a 3d stove made to your specifications. and the new floor looks very pretty. good work, claudia!
drove to chicago-area and back yesterday with my sister and the rides went well, were just very, very long. got back at 2 am, was up at 6 am to walk four miles, stopped to get air in a car tire, then volunteered at church from 9 am to noon today. but we heard todd rundgren yesterday and it was all wonderful … hearing live some of those much-loved old songs, other songs i knew and liked and some i did not know, plus a couple covers (including marvin gaye!). had great seats … front row center in the balcony of a beautiful, hundred-year-old theater. and his sweet-and-gruff voice was awesome (he’s 77 … looked it up) and rattled around in my chest as before … that voice and the memories of where i was and who i was with for hearing it in much earlier years. loved it all. highly recommend. :)
now i am going to try to avoid taking a nap.
hope you’re having a good day and stay safe.

I’m happy to hear you had such a good time, Kathy.
I know of his music, of course, but he wasn’t on my radar all that much. But I sure know what it feels like to hear someone you like and admire in concert. Good for you! Yes, stay awake and the go to bed a little earlier than usual.
Stay safe.
yes to hearing favorite (and new) music live!!!
have you heard these todd rundgren songs …?
sweeter memories
i love my life
just one victory (this one … along with “lovely cruise” by jimmy… is in the plan for my funeral/visitation, hopefully many, many, many years from now!)
love of a common man
beyond the hits, these are four of my most favorite todd songs. he sang two of them sunday night. :) hopefully he will sing the others when we see him in late august up in minneapolis. :)
any music you’d recommend these days (in addition to that of your sweet don!)?
happy tuesday!
kathy
No music to recommend – my playlist is very eclectic and very long and it’s hard to single anyone out.
So glad you got to see him and will see him again in August!
xo
i appreciate having a long and varied list of music (among other things).
very much looking forward to hearing todd rundgren again!
thanks, claudia.

Hi Claudia,
I rarely comment but I have long loved your blog. It’s a lovely little corner of the internet.
I’m “uncloaking” because I live in San Antonio and am a huge Spurs fan. What a series that was! Congratulations to y’all, and hopefully we’ll get a re-match next year :-)
Thank you for commenting, Susan! I know you wish the Spurs won, but after 53 years, it’s sure nice to see the Knicks win! You are very gracious about it. Yes, a rematch would be great!
Thanks.

I had a tooth surgery last week. Wasn’t sure it was healing ok, but the dentist believes it’ll be fine. Good. Sat was my cousin’s birthday, I miss her so much and talk to her in my head a lot. The weather has been beautiful here these last days. I love your floors. I wish ours were that nice!
I hope you’re feeling better, Irene!

This sounds like a terrific solution. I hope it works well!
We were at the Michigan Emmy Awards on Saturday so we couldn’t see the game. I’m so glad they wrapped it up now!
Oh, the game was amazing!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
The kitchen is wonderful, I like the little green bowl, a perfect touch.
How great to have 3 D of the stove made.
I just am so enamored with the vetch. It is a painting a work of art. I just looked up the artist the vetch reminds me of Kehinde Wiley. He did Pres. Obama portrait. The vetch looks like he painted it. Am I making any sense?
I hope your friend is recovering.
Take Care,
Kaye
Absolutely makes sense! I’ll try to take a picture that shows how large it is.
Thanks so much, Kaye.
