Monday morning. (I took these photos yesterday.) I’d love to say I’ve been sitting out on the porch but it’s been way too hot and humid. I run outside to take pictures, to water the plants, to refill the birdbath…and then I scurry back inside the house. This really has been a summer of mostly terrible weather, and I find myself looking forward to fall. Though the gardens are so beautiful right now, I’m determined to stay in the moment so I can really appreciate the beauty around me.
I mowed the entire front lawn on Saturday morning while Don was playing a gig. I had to take a half hour break in the middle of mowing. It was so hot and humid that it took me a day to recover. But rain was coming and the lawn was quite long, so it had to be done. Meanwhile, Don was playing outdoors in this awful humidity, so both of us could barely move by the afternoon.
And I finally started work on the deductions yesterday. I’m quite proud of myself. Don will do his usual thing which is to listen to me remind him about them every day this week until he does them at the last minute.
No work on the dollhouse so far – way too hot upstairs.
I think the weather will improve toward the end of this week.
And the giant (over 7 ft tall) thistle is blooming!

Lovely flowers….just gorgeous. This summer has been unsettling to me. And I haven’t spent as much time outdoors as I normally would. Too hot. I find myself scooting outside to water…and that’s it. No deck sitting for us either so far. But in a few days it looks like a string of 70’s is coming up. Fall can’t be far behind…and I can’t wait.
That is a giant of a thistle. Anxious to see it fully bloom. Enjoy your day! ;)

busy day here today (with a couple have-to things on my list yet to do), but it’s gone well. walked, fed earl and the birds, volunteered for three hours at church, did some chores, visited with family. also trying to solve a creative problem (not as fun as it sounds … maybe like if you feel stuck on the beacon hill …?). and waiting on a call back for someone to hopefully fix another kind of problem (lock … which i dread). could be worse, for sure, and grateful it isn’t.

We’ve had a thunderstorm tonight. I wish bc had storms and rain like us.
My dear aunt mary may have lung cancer. My cousin Janet’s partner is dying at st. Joseph”s hospice down the road. My big bear cousin ernie and judy are going to try to come visit poor. I love ernie (janet’s brother). He worked for dad in construction. I always wanted him to come in before I left for school.
I’m feeling better emotionally. Was our 35th wedding anniversary yesterday. Bought myself a nice nightie.
