This beauty opened overnight. I got up when it was still fairly dark, but I could see its glow from the kitchen window.
What a beauty.
And the scent! Oh my goodness, it’s heavenly.
The flowers are quite large – almost double the size of a morning glory.
There are a lot of buds that will be opening in the next week or two.
Please, Mother Nature! Hold off on any freeze, okay?
The morning glories are still blooming as well, but not quite as prolifically as they were a week or so ago. We are now averaging about 3 or 4 a day.
There it is amidst the leaves. Hello, beauty!
I am absolutely sure I will plant these seeds again next year. I love this vine.
I’m a little under the weather today – I think it’s my sinuses/allergies/crap. I also mowed yesterday, which probably didn’t help, but we had to get it done before the next 3 or 4 days of rain. (Though I have yet to see any rain and we would like some, please.) Anyway, I’m slightly cranky and sniffly and a happy camper I am not.
I promised you more photos of the living room, but that hasn’t happened. In the meantime, here is another view of the table top.
Beautiful table + sunlight + Roseville = Happiness.
Happy Friday.

I’m sorry you are under the weather. The same thing happens to my husband when he mows our yard. Here hoping for enough rain to fill your well.
Claudia says
I think it will take a long time to replenish our water table, Trina. Hopefully, a snowy winter will help.
Linda @ A La Carte says
The Moonflower is gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled one before. My allergies have been annoying the last few days but it’s what happens in the Fall to me. Family visit went well but I’ve lots of things to get done before I leave for Calif next week. Happy Friday.
Hugs!!
Claudia says
The scent is incredible, Linda.

I hope as the day goes on today, that you’ll feel better. You have ambitious outdoor chores!
Can’t get enough of that lovely table. Its patina is just wonderful.
So hoping I can get out early today and do errands before the heat. We’ve had day upon day of so much hot weather in the mid-to-high 90s, now coupled with humidity; lots of clouds (although the Santa Anas made a fairly quick departure, for now).
Our little veggie garden is currently yielding cukes, yellow squash and green beans. Fun to see them grow! The heat and sun has helped them along although that duo did my flowers NO favors.
Claudia says
Not today, I don’t have ambitious outdoor chores. Except to get Don to clear the gutters of leaves before it pours,
Tammy says
Lovely moonflower, My husband has been grumpy since yesterday. I could tell he was acting weird yet he said nothing was wrong. Now today he says he doesn’t feel good and is starting with a sore throat. I knew something wasn’t right. Hope you feel better soon.
Claudia says
Me too, Tammy. Same for your husband! Thank you.
Shanna says
Wish I could smell that moonflower! It’s just gorgeous. Hope you feel better soon…just look at the sun flooding that table with honey-colored light and perfect shadows and you’ll have to feel better!
Claudia says
Except that was from the other day. Today, it’s gloomy and rainy!
Shanna says
Yup, here, too. Time to head on down the road, for us. Then it will be summer again, where we end up.
Claudia says
Jealous!

Feel better, Claudia. If you have sinus congestion or a runny nose, you can try a natural remedy my Mom used on my brothers and me, and my Grandmother used on her, and I use on my daughters. You’ll need a piece of ginger the size of your palm, kitchen tongs, a large square of clean sheeting (cut up an old clean sheet), a hammer or meat tenderizer, and a stove. On the stove top, heat the ginger until it is charred on the outside. Turn with tongs so the entire surface is charred. Take it off the heat and wrap in the sheeting, so there are two layers of sheeting. Use the hammer and pound on the ginger until you see the sheeting start to absorb the ginger juices. Be careful, the ginger package will be hot. Press the ginger package against your forehead and the top of your cheeks. Press as hard as you can tolerate. The heat, and supposedly ginger juices, will dry up the excess mucus in your sinuses. My kids love this treatment, even as the young adults they are now. I suspect it’s because it’s soothing and Mommy is taking care of them. I do it just before lights out at night so the lingering warmth lulls them to sleep.
Claudia says
Thanks for the ‘recipe’ Wendy. I’ll give it a try when I have a chance to get some ginger.

The flowers are beautiful. I miss flowers as part of our landscaping. Living in the desert we get excited when the cactus bloom. They do get pretty flowers.
The Roseville pottery was the perfect choice for the new table. The colors really compliment each other. I bet your other pieces of Roseville will look just as pretty. Let’s face it anything would look good on that table it’s just so unique and ageless.
Hope you feel better. I saw on Dr. Oz if you have allergies or sinus problems you should sleep with the bedroom window shut. With it open all night long the pollen and things that irritated you are now blowing in your window while you sleep.
Claudia says
Well, our bedroom window is shut. It isn’t helping!
Nancy Blue Moon says
At last a perfect bloom..how I wish I could smell it…I hope you feel better soon Claudia..I’m not feeling too well myself but I am having a nausea problem..Take care..
Claudia says
Feel better, Nancy!

So moon flowers are white….and balloon flowers are blue? Must get me some! Hope you are feeling better! It’s windy, and damp here…perfect day to snuggle in! ;)
Claudia says
Windy and damp here, as well. I wish we had a fireplace!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
No sunshine here today, either. I read pretty much all day ~ and that was rather fun! Hope you feel better soon. Tis that season….
Claudia says
I think this will be a ‘read all day’ kind of day, Chris.
